  1. Trying to get the drums off my salisbury rear axel, the workshop manual says you remove 1 screw, Is it a counter sunk screw or a grub type screw? if its the latter, i fear the head had been broken off the one I have...

    cheers

If the countersunk head has broken off, then the drum should come off - have you slackened the brakes shoes right off? If not it'll be a b****r to remove.

  2. The Wabco air suspension pump on my 2001 TD5 Disco had to be changed as it was blowing fuses. I've pulled the old one apart, and all that is wrong is one of the small coil springs that press the brushes onto the comutator has rusted and is no longer entire. Any idea where I might get a spring to resurect the old pump?

  3. OK Defender wiring diagrams are widely available, and usful when chasing elusive electrical problems, but what I would REALLY like is a 'loom layout diagram' if such a thing exists. ie a wiring diagram that includes what wires are in what loom, and shows the various connectors, pin numbers etc. They must exist to have made the looms in the first place but I've never found a source - anyone know if they are available somewhere on't interweb thingy? Specifically I'm after them for a 1990 110 station wagon.

  4. New to me 1995 Discovery 1 300Tdi.

I trailered it back from Sussex to Wiltshire yesterday and at odd occasions I could see in my mirrors the indicator lights flashing, mostly 3 times, but occasionaly once or twice and on two occasions they just wouldn't stop until I pulled over!

I wondered if it was the alarm being set off by vibration or the volumetric sensors (if it has them?) but this morning, when starting the Pug 405, parked directly behind it, I had one flash of the indicators!

I checked and the doors were still locked, so it wasn't unlocking, but I'm a little concerned about this "random" flashing. I'm guessing it's due to interference somewhere or does anybody have any other suggestions?

    Cheers

    Peter,

As you drove off the rear door of the Disco swung open!!!! Laura ran after you and tried to slam it shut as you pulled out onto the A21 so I reckon it was only shut on the 'first latch'

  6. Is there a standard clip / retainer / strap or something to hold the Land Rover bottle jack in a Defender?

I've just acquired a 1989 model year 110 Station Wagon that spent it's life up to 2006 in Zimbabwee, came here overland, was re-engined with a 200TDI by the Thatched Garage, is remarkably rust free, but had no jack. I've the L/R bottle jack on order as I know they are good from my Disco, but where / how to stow as it rattles arround rather on bumpy tracks!

Incidentally, it came with a Zimbabwee tax disk - 2.4 MILLON Zimbabwee pounds for a year!!!!!!
