Just come down the M6 from Scotland to find the temp gauge running on normal, then within 1 minuete to red hot then back down to normal a couple a minuetes later. This happened several times. Never had this problem before with the bugger. Did a search but it seems that there are lots of solutions. By the way its a 300 tdi
I,d cheak the temp sender to start with good luck.

If i was you i would get the 200tdi engine and replace both, if your going to replace the gear box and have to make modifocations you may as well change the engine save the gearbox mods.

I think it's possible to convert a drum-brakes Salisbury to discs, with a certain setup of hubs/dics/calipers, plus some brackets that hold the calipers?
Sure there's a thread or two in the tech archive regarding it.
Easier to swap the whole axle for a disc-braked Salisbury or P38-style 110 rear axle though
i,m just putting post in wanted section for salisbury/p38 style 110 rear axle thanks for that
-
will start looking thanks for that cheers

The door hinges on the Hybrid are well and truly past their best days with the drivers door becoming a pain to close.
Looking at the hinge it looks perfectly fine, but the pin in the center is whats causing the problems. Searching around in the internet I've not been able to find any replacement pins, so I'm wondering if anybody has seen such a thing for the door hinges? Or has anybody done a home brew conversion that has worked and being cheaper than buying the entire hinge.
Looking at the picture below, I can't see why replacement pins could be made, or is there something that I'm over looking??
Todd.
A replacement set will cost around £30/40, these were pattern parts on ebay, have a look under defender hinges might be useful to you good luck.

If it has no direct contact with the roof, other than the gutters, it should be ok, but it is a haul getting a wheel up there!
As the spare mount is located in the tub bolted to the side, just behind the passenger seat, it wont make that much differance as you,ve got to get in the tub to access it anyway, was going for about 1/4 ins clearance from roof should have it done by tomrrow will post results. cheers
-
DO NOT put it directly on the roof. I did this on my truck cab using a rear door carrier and it was a bad idea. The roof is not strong enough. I tried to put some strenghtening bars on the inside to help but every time i went over a bump the roof flexed and made a horrible nasty noise. Thats my ten penny worth, Cheers jim.
was thinking of welding the carrier to 2 lenths of 1ins steel pipe and making somthing like roof bars but not as high what do ya reckon
-
hey hicapster, I have enough trouble getting in and out of car parks as it is. Surely if you stick your spare on the roof you will be forever trying to find a parking space!
although i use her as regular transport she is primarily a working vehicle as alot of our work is carried out on country estate/agricultural sites we pull around a ton and carry alot of gear so space in the tub is at a premium
-
I think its time to get the welder out, and borrow my mates pipe bender, i,ll try for a pair of roof bars running close to roof, thanks for page link and info. cheers
