  1. Hi,

Recently on my 2005 Range rover the air conditioning is no longer cold. I have checked the gas and all appears ok. Can anyone tell me a good procedure to follow to diagnose problem or is there a common fault?

Also around the same time the lower tailgate wont open. No sound of actuators or anything.

The only other electrical issue is the drivers heated seat has stopped working but I believe this to maybe be wear but maybe all are linked.

    Thanks for any help

  2. Hi,

I'm looking for help with the seal / seals between the upper part of the windscreen and the roof. When I dismantled the land rover there was only the outer seal (10mm x 4mm foam) covered in sealant. I bought the inner seal the upper one to the roof and put this in. I then attached a new outer foam seal to the windscreen frame but when I drop the roof down there is about a 10mm gap at the front where you can visibly see both seals. Have I the lower one in the wrong location? was there a reason that the was no seal in the roof channel. Its a 1989 110 CSW.

    Thanks

    John

  3. Hi,

I am restoring a 1989 110 CSW and at the moment it is down to the chassis. I remember when driving it before it was very hard to get it into 5th. You had to the knack and change from 4th to 5th very fast in one swift movement. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be and how to go about fixing it or is it a complete dismantle of the box?

    Thanks

  4. Hi,

I'm going to be using a 110CSW for camping with my wife and 2 small children. I am considering a family roof tent with other tent on the ground to leave equipment in during the day or else forget the roof tent and get something like a Khyam motordome sleeper. Any have any opinions on these or the roof tent?

  5. Hi,

I have an 1989 110 county station wagon with a lot of body damage. Door rotten, roof badly dented etc. I have a chance of getting some good 109 station wagon parts cheap. Does anyone know if the roof off the 109 would fit the 110? Also are the rear doors and wings suitable?

    Thanks

  6. I also run a 200tdi, lt77 with a rangie 1.003 transfer box, with 4.7's on 32 tyres and its just right for what i use it for. If i get bigger tyres it will be a bit better.........

How did you manage with the rear prop shaft or are you ok with a LWB. I have an 88"

  7. Hi,

I am putting a 90 turbo head on my 21J NA diesel engine. I have some work to do on the standard 4 speed gearbox. The gearbox is fitted with a fairy overdrive. My question is, do I

    1. Fit Disco diffs

    2. Fit Disco diffs and high Ratio transfer box from Ashcrofts

    3. Fit Disco Diffs and retain overdrive

I would like the gearing to be like a 90.

    Wheel fitted are 235 85's

    Thanks

  8. Thanks for that. I understand what you mean with the welding of the chassis. it would greatly reduce the sheering force on the weld.

The Disco I have does not have much of a body left.

Right I think Ill just go for 5 speed box from Disco ( Changing Bell housing and pinion of course ).

Then the Disco axles with the existing parabolics.

    Think this requires:

    Moving the engine 4" forward

    Replacing bell housing and pinion

gearbox should remain where it is

    Dont know about cross member

    changing prop shafts

Alteration to disco axle to mach parabolic springs.

May look at the 1 ton shackles. Do they just go on one end of the spring?

  9. Oh, insults flying there. I do own 3 series vehicles. I was just considering creating a coil version for off road as I have a discovery there doing nothing. Measuring is not a problem, I was hoping I would get some advice on where to make the cut as this would be of great importance in relation to prop shafts internal gear lever location etc. Not to worry Ill sort it out. SVA does not apply. No room for "clowns with welders" on this forum? Sorry for wasting your time.

  10. Does anyone know if it is possible to fit coil suspension from a disco to a series chassis and in conjunction to this fitting the disco diffs?

I will also be moving my engine 4" forward a fitting a five speed gearbox.

My other option is to fit the disco diffs and 5 speed box to the existing leaf sprung chassis.

  11. Daan on here has done it,but he shortened the chassis to 88".It turned out to be an excellent truck.

Its an excellent project - don't listen to the moaning old gits. I think it may be a lot of work!

    Thanks,

I just want to get more from my series and also drive it every day. Its a good series restored, but the gearbox has now given up and the drive train has always been very noisey. the defender I am looking at has bulkhead, floors, seat box, gearbox, engine and diffs. The only thing missing would be the roof and the rear tub and a front wing and bonnet. If I am to cut the chassis is it in the middle? I assume the prop shaft will also have to be shortened. I did think the series windscreen would fit on the defender bulk head.

My other choice would be a series coil conversion chassis but but ill have to buy engine, gearbox and all other bits separate. Think it wouold prove more costly.

  12. I have a 88" series III which I am looking at transfering the body onto a 1998 300tdi defender chassis. The Chassis will come with Axles, diffs, 5 speed gearbox, 300tdi engine and bulkhead.

Can anybody tell me if this has been done and what I should be taking from the defender and what from the series? What problems I might encounter.

    Thanks

    John
