  1. hi all

Ive defender 110 with lt230 gearbox as seen:

    FW2.jpg,

as some of you may know; I'm trying to swap puma dashboard and one of the problem is with gear levers.

    puma/tdci gear levers like this:

    land-rover-defender-svx-interior1.jpg

I read in other forums that levers can be set side bys side as tdci with disco2, transfer lever, etc.

can someone explain me how to do that.?

    thanks a lot.

  2. Hi

The disco main box will put the gear lever in the wrong place so is no good to you. You could get a adaptor ring to fit your existing box but being military it has an extra deep 1st gear and the transfer box is 1.61 so you'd have to change that for the disco tbox at or it will be screaming it's nuts off at 50! This would work, just don't bother with 1st gear!

Try Steve Parker or Conversion and Precision for an adaptor ring. There may be an issue with the spigot bush in the flywheel as well, definitely is in a series, not sure about V8 in to 4 pot LT77.

    hi

ist thar adaptor ring like a spacer between gearbox and the engine?

    thanks

  3. Getting the instruments to work could be 'fun'. It'll be doable, everything is doable, but at different levels of difficulty!

Fitting the dash, and wiring up most of the switchgear (lights etc.) will likely be comparatively straightforward. A case of fishing out the wiring diagrams for the 2007MY Defender and working out where to patch it into your vehicle loom. I would imagine the instruments, or some of them, will be on a CANBUS system, so integrating it into your Td5 won't be that simple. I would start with looking at the wiring diagrams for the instruments and seeing where the feeds come from for the gauges etc, then go from there.

There won't be much help out there as I doubt many people have done such a conversion! I'm sure I read of someone doing it somewhere, but they didn't use the Tdci instruments, instead replacing them with aftermarket ones. I believe the instruments for the Tdci came out of the Discovery 3.

    Good luck anyway :)

I was readng you website about installing td5 intruments and just preparing to email you about that:)

  4. mine is 1987 model ex millitary:)

it's not very easy here in Turkey to sell and buy a Puma defender
