  1. i know it's an old thread but thought i would let you know what i have on my freelander.

i've just fitted a bearmach 2" lift and have 15" steel wheels with 215/75/15 bridgestone dueller MT's. so far the wear rate seems pretty good and i have no problems with the tyres contacting the suspension or anything like that. the fuel consumption does not seem to have been effected by having MT tyres, i still get about 28mpg(1.8 k series). the only complaint i have is that the bridgestones are very noisey between 40 and 60 mph but are no worse than AT's at motorway speeds. As for off road performance i will be testing them out on the LRO show off road course in a couple of weeks so will find out then.

here is a picture if anyone is interested

  3. We need some new tyres for the Freelander before too long.

Lucy wants to go to 15" steels wheels and BFG ATs but I've come over all poncy and want to keep the 17" alloys :ph34r:

Is anyone using ATs on 17" rims, who does a 17" AT anyway? I don't think BFG do which is a shame :(

    Will :)

hi. i wanted some 17" AT tyres for mine a year or so ago and found it nearly impossible to find any 17" AT's that would fit a freelander. the 265 tyres that others have mentioned will not fit, the only ones i could find were the 225/55/17 colway c-trax all terrain. i had these on the car for about 18 months and they were pretty good, costing about 50 quid each.

unfortunatly i think colway have gone bust now so you probably won't be able to get them any more.

i have since got rid of the alloys and now have 15" steel wheels with 215/75/15 bridgestone dueller MT's,

coupled with the 2" lift i have it looks pretty cool but sounds like a stuka dive bomber at speed with those chunky tyres.

so bin those alloys, stop being poncy and get some proper boots! :P

  4. Hi

Has anyone any idea's about head gaskets?

Coolant running through far too quickly, over heating & cold air blowing from the vents - presuming head gasket problem unless anyone can correct me?

I know this is supposed to be a common fault but has anyone any idea's of how expensive its going to be to fix?

Any recommendations for any good garage's in the north west? Warrington, Manchester, Liverpool area??

Given the history with my last landrover garage - dont think it would be a would idea to return to him!!!!

    Many thanks in advance.

    Ange.x

about 600 quid! thats providing you have not completly cooked the engine, i'd stop driving it now if i were you.
