Just been to York (Elvington) and back to Warrington towing a Caterham on a single axel trailer, 200 miles from brimming tank Sunday morning to brimming tank this evening.(not in a landy)
Ran in tandam with my mate in his 200tdi landy 90 pulling an Areil Atom + trailer and left him on the hills
Can you guess the fuel consumption at a steady 60 to 70mph each way.
My vehicle was, you guessed it, an Isuzu KB crew cab pickup loaded with gear and Caterham on the trailer.
The Isuzu has a 2.8 turbo diesel engine and weighs in empty at just over 1900 kilos, if you add the gear and car +trailer and three of us in it we are looking at about 3 tons all up weight.
This engine is a popular conversion for a landy and I would recomend it, mine has been ultra reliable and has no electronics to drown when wading
The engine returned, wait for it, thirty one point two five miles to the gallon
Mileage was correct and fuel put in was correct even waiting for the bubbles to come up and brimming the tank.
So if you are thinking of putting one in the Landy then go for it, they are bullet proof, mine has no timing belt to break and the only electrics are for the fuel shut off valve, so with snorkle etc you are safe to go swimming with it
Can any one tellme where I can buy a conversion kit for my discovery 1 300TDI Automatic
Are there pictures available of a conversion proccess??
Thank you

Beware of over tightening the alternator belt. Too tight either causes front bearing failure (loads of noise) or the sleeve bearing at the back to go oval or the shaft to be ground away. Too loose only makes the belt squeal under load, reminding you to turn something off.
When the play in the alternator gets too much the parts will touch, and the iron filings will collapse the magnetic field, and no more output!
I have a serpentine belt and has this automatic tightning roller is this the problem do I need to change this one?

Hi Is it possible to replace the original LR 300tdi engine with an Japanese engine
For example TOYOTA L3 / L5 Nissan?
Which one is the easiest to fit in and how to do this.
Thank you

Hi,
I have a problem with my alternator the shaft became thinner at the back and don't fit in the bearing.
I replaced the alternator and after 3 weeks the same problem any Ideas
Thank you

Yes you need the 'serpentine' pulley. And I am not sure that the fixings are the same. Doubtless somebody who knows the 200tdi will be along soon. AFAIK it is the same Lucas A127 alternator but I could be wrong...
Thank you,
Is there some one who did this?

try the 'full edit' choice under the drop down 'edit' button at the bottom of your reply, you should be able to upload the information in .jpg or .pdf form straight from your home pc.
OK I will try
I tried but the uploading takes forever I like to upload a 400k file after an hour I stopped is tere an other way to upload?
I am using fire fox is that may be the problem?
Thank you

No way I know of telling them apart I am afraid, the new one probably has the countersunk hole for one of the pulleys (idler or tensioner can never remember which) but then so does any front cover that has had a 4096 fitted.
So the counter sunk is the only diffrence. (please check attached document.) Do you know the reason for this?
I cannot upload attachment can I send it by email?
Thank you

Hi is it possible to provide the excact diffrence between the two cases?
I think I have the new one installed allready.
My dealer sold me the 4096L without the case but my vin number says that I need the 4095L.
Also in the istallation instructions I saw something about a hole of 45 degrees 2mm.
Do you know Why that is needed?
May be If you have pictures of the two diffrent cases so I can see the diffrence.
Thank you
