  1. Thanks fo your responses White90 and JST. I have got it now. So a pair of diff locks (or just rear) is better than the TC off road anyway. So money wise you are probably better off with diff locks instead of LR fitting traction control to the Vehicle. Again thanks for your responses. Jonathan

  2. in simple terms - with one you accelerate when you loose traction in the other you back off and find another route/different gear/lore/less momentum etc.

Hi, I understand the different ways TC works. However I do not know what actually occurs on a Defender with TC. Does it brake the spinning wheel (To get a diff lock effect of driving the wheel with traction or weight on it). Or does it use suspension and diff sensors to apply drive/brake to specific wheels, or possibly Diff locks though I am sure I have never heard of a standard defender with diff locks? I am interested if I should have bought one with TC and would it have been better off road? Thanks. Jonathan

  3. Halfords Professional tools are excellent. I have just got a Vortex 3/8 and 1/4 equivalent drive sets, they are excellent quality and very reasonably priced. I also have their ratcheting spanners which are superb and easily as good as the Bluepoint (Snap On) ones I have used. Jonathan

  4. Obviously, apart from that it was business as usual but the cabin felt like a nicer place to be and it was easier to drive (apart from that rediculous 1st gear - do you end up pulling away in 2nd all the time?).

You can pull away in 2nd. I do a bit with no trailer on.

When I have got a loaded trailer on the low 1st really makes sense though, it is a superb combination at high speed with the 6th gear and great for slow manouvering with a heavy trailer (no need to ride on the clutch in reverse either). I have pulled some pretty heavy loads up wet fields and never needed to use low range ( though I do use low range every now and again cause I heard the lever sticks if you dont).

BTW is there a trick to get it to go into Low range and Low Diff easily? I always end up stopping and feeding 2nd gear in on the clutch slightly then it goes in. Maybe it is just me but I hate the feeling of forcing it in. I always try to be gentle and avoid the loud crunches when changing.

    Cheers. Jonathan

  5. was looking at these on the 2007 110 we had a fire duty over the last bank holiday weekend, seems to be a bit involved with the seat mounts on top of the wheelboxes, but should be just a nut & bolt removal job, looks like the plastic turret covers come off first then the seat swivel bar & seat then the 4 turrets.

I need to remove my rear seats in my 07my 90. Need the load space and no one ever goes in the back anyway. Does anyone know if the 90 hardtop rubber loadspace mat will fit if the seats are removed? Thanks. Jonathan
