  2. hey all.

im looking around to see what sort of ideas folks have had to set up carrying tools and strops etc in the back of their disco,s. I have a 3 door with the rear seats removed. Im thinking of removing the floor and attaching "d" rings so that i can ratchet things down or making a skeleton frame so that i can put boxes in and again ratchet them in.

    Any help would help.

    many thanks.

  3. hey all.

im wondering if anybody has replaced their rear o/s window with metal or any other means, i am looking to replace both of them to stop them getting popped outy when doing punch challenges. any help would be appreciated.

  4. It's a good point, lockers take the shock load away as the wheel that's in the air can't spin any faster than the wheel on the ground, if everything's locked up that usually means everything is going about the same speed as the ground.

Or you could try not to spin wheels so much, the killer is spinning then hitting grip (EG getting a wheel airbourne on a climb).

    hey all.

I leave the difflock out when on roads, and am quite careful abour spinning the wheels off road. i keep looking at the four pin diffs and admit they do look a bit better but still not sure what to do. I run the standard 10 spline shaft's at the moment. Admittedly i would like to get lockers but not sure yet.

    Thanks for the advise

fridge freezer you have the rangy and 110 ten in gosport??? if so why you selling your 109?

    many thanks

  5. hey all, hows it going?

ive not been on this site for a while.

I have a question and am not great on technical speak. i have broken a few rear diffs on my disco 1, usually after a nice easy climb, i have found out that it may have been damaged earlier, it alway seeem to be the same thing that goes....the bar that goes by the crown wheel with the planet gears on that are top and bottom.

i have a bit of slack in my trnsmission so maybe the jolts from the slack being taken up slowly fractures it.

My question is...why is it always that bit that goes and the planet gears break and without going into arbs or anything similar is there a way to stop it breaking ( other than not driving hahaha), im loooking at maybe making that bar out of steel not forged metal that it is at the moment..

Also does anybody know how to get rid of the slack in the transmission, it seems to be in the gearbox area from what i can tell.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  6. Whereabouts are you - if you're going to Muddy Bottom then I'm guessing you're in the Shires area. Someone may be able to come over and help if you get really stuck.

    hey all.

its still not working, i have managed to get it to fire on the key only then when i let the key go it dies, i've heard that it might be the ballst resitor wire ???? where is that??, other than that i have'nt got a clue as far as the rangey goes... as soon as i have managed to get it working im am going to sell it any help or visits would be muchly helpfull. im getting miffed to say the least with it.

  7. When you say doesn't kick, do you mean tries to start but doesn't, or just turns over with no sign of it firing at all?

Check you're getting a spark at the plugs - take a plug out, put it back on its HT lead and rest it on top of the engine (so that it's in decent contact with metal - you need it earthed), then turn the engine over and see if it's sparking.

If you've got sparks and it's not firing at all, you've almost certainly got no fuel. Check all the fuses are okay and if they're fine then it's time to find the diagnostic instructions in the tech archive on here and go through them.

I take it it's a flapper system? If it's hotwire there's a fuel cutoff switch under the back of the passenger seat, but I don't think flapper has an equivalent.

    hey geoff.

its turning over but wont start, it has a air flapper vavle in the engine bay i have checked the plugs and they are ok. i will have a look at the tech section.

    Many thanks.
