  1. LOL,

I should have guessed it was a typo!

    Thanks for the ID guys.

Looking at the engine I noticed you are using the plastic Plug ( for bleeding the cooling system ) , also one on the radiator , best replace this with brass plugs . One of the fist things I did with my Disco 1 - those plastic plugs are terrible , not worth risking over heating motor if one of those go.

  2. thanks everyone for the info / tips. The only issue now is getting hold of the top coat 'willow green' in aerosol as I don't have spray gear.

When I've done the deed I'll post some pics!

I would also buy new end caps -- spraypainting it just looks terrible -- body colour ........!???!!!! ....does not suit the car

  3. wow interesting reply's I forgot to say I have had two 300tdi discovery's in the past!! I think what is putting me off from getting another 300Tdi is what was stated before that they are just rust bucket's as my old man has just spent a weekend welding his up and that is a well looked after 98 model!! As for Td5 what attracts me is the look of it the fact it does not rust as bad as a 300 and you can chip the engine plus from what I hear the Td5 is not bad off road either. I have been look towards getting a GS spec Discovery, Thanks for the advice so far anymore is appreciated.

I have just three weeks ago traded my Disco 1 S 1998 (run out model registered 1999) for a 2004 ( registered jul 2005 run out model ) td5 SX manual . Whislt my TDi was a super car ( 230k km on clock) the td 5 is a better , more power and easier to drive - go for the the td5 ...!

  4. You'll notice if you have bag gone cause the thing sits on one side over night once pumped up.

Hi Jim , Juan here ( the chap with the green disco 1 in jukskeipark - had the steering recovered that you came to look at ) . Have just two weeks ago sold my old faithfull Disco 1 . After sorting out the original problems - had 4 1/2 years of good motoring on it . Swapped it last week for mint 2005 disco 2 XS

My neighbour has a 2001 disco 2 ES and left rear bag has collapsed - needs to be replaced - what is cost on this ? also noticed oil leak on rear drive shaft - at wheel . It appears to have an oil seal that causes the problem and am told by dealers that the whole shaft flange assembly has to be replaced at approx 5k a pop ?? why not only replace the oil seal / o ring ( I think part ref is TAY 100050 for complete unti)

    brgrds
