You guys are lucky that parts like bonnets are economical and easily accessible. I would love to replace the bonnet on my 90 but they are crazy expensive over here on the western side of the US.

About $10 US each, I'm sure they are much cheaper where you are. Local auto parts stores in the US don't carry glow plugs.

Testing the glow plugs is a piece of cake. Remove them one at a time and with two pieces of wire hook up the threaded part to the negative post on the battery and the top to the positive post. The tip should glow red hot in 5 to 10 seconds (Be very careful to not burn yourself or anything else when you do this). If it doesn't, it needs to be replaced. I just swapped out 2 or the 4 plugs last week and my truck starts up fast and WAY less smokey.

On the 2.5L N/A the book says 11 volts so 9.*v sounds pretty low but I'm not sure about the TD. I think the glow plug specs also call for 11v so it sounds like you are not getting all you can out of them.

Are you testing with all the plugs hooked up or are you just testing the wiring output?

If you have any radios, inverters, phone chargers or any other 12v gadgets you may want to pull their respected fuses out before you "test fit" a battery. If you get it backwards you may destroy them inadvertently.

Most garages here in the US will load test a battery for free in hopes that it actually is failing, giving them the opportunity to sell you a new one. The test takes less than a minute.

The frame for sure, inside and out. Bulkhead crevases and door channels too. There is a lot more to protect than just the axle finish. I'm guessing you could easily do it for less than half of what you were quoted if you did it yourself.
