  1. I experianced it a cuople of times the heads are prone for cracking in the exhaust ports, getting rid of the cooling stuf then indicating on the heat guage I am running hot, I dont know of any official mods done to stop this cracking but it did stop, Ithink the germans just made the castings thicker.

  2. The stop solinoid is a issue when the vehicle gets old dont just check it cut off the terminal and put a new one on,the glow plug check is good do it and the light dimming I found on lots of ocasions is the earth/negative wire from the battery to the chassis to the transferbox gets old renew including the battery terminal and dont forget the earth wire at the starter motor to the chassis renew it.

  3. Hey russianfrog you dont know these farmers in SA they have limmited space where you can(at own risk of corse)drive faster than 140km/h and they want to. The other reason is that if they know the limeter is not there then they are happy and if I can make money why not

  4. check if the transferbox or gearbox was not removed for some reason and some people dont secure the main engine harnas/bunch of electrical wires running from the red plug of the ecu and then it lays on the hand brake/emergansy brake drum and chafes through and starts to short out causing hvoc

  5. :P Hi I am new to the forum and would like put it out there I have my own workshop in South Africa and I spesialise on Landys and I am very  pasionate  about these vehicles I do have a question about the new Defender with the commonrail engine and it is are the ones in your market also speed limited to round about 140km/h and if so has any one been sucsesful in removing the limiter and do you guys know what it entitled to remove this speed limiter.

    Thanks cheers bulletmp :P:P:P:P:P:P:P
