  1. Hi there have just taken a gearbox off a V8 engine that i have had sitting around fro a couple of years. The gearbox number on it is 25 27 7484 suffix D. Could anybody tell me what the ratios are and if is the strengthened type? Am looking to fit into an 80 inch trialler. Any info much appreciated!!

Hi could be a series 3 suffix D (the later military type box) with a series 2a bell housing (clutch shaft fits through side of bellhousing). You can tell if its the stronger case type suffix D series 3 if it has ribs on the reverse gear side of the main case (between the transfre box front extention case).

If it is these are good for V8 conversiions although i prefer the original series 2A stronger 1st 2 nd gear with the series 3 bell housing for the hydraulic clutch system, stronger on accelleration i find.

    Hope this helps.

  2. As the title says...... ;)

New defender, discovery, range rover casings form www.lrseries wolf case wont fit standard models without changing suspension set up and props etc.

THey have reconditioned and used aswell, or ebay has had a few lately but beware bent case's ! are very common i have been stung by a so called reputable seller on there.

Or ifs its a very late cefenmder try simpson brothers salvage at stamford bridge in east yorks they have them in from time to time.

    Hope this helps.

  3. By quoting a rear Truetrac diff for my 110 SW Puma, some of the suppliers asked for part numbers since LR changed a bit the diff :( !

Does anyone know the part numbers for the crown-pinion-bearings-halfshaft.....I went to the dealer who has the microcat, but last weekend some water came from the roof just over his PC. Of course he would not lend me the cd

    thanks

Hi, i was just searching for another post and i would think the same company could help you (worth a try) www.lrseries.com, if they are no use let me know i use them alot and have recommended them a few times but never hear back if it was any use.

    Cheers, james

  4. thanks for that. just sent him a message. at least that would be one out of two sorted...

Hi, if you dont get sorted with above try www.lrseries.com they list new, recon and used just case or complete axle (you have to phone for used by the looks of it).

    Hope this helps.? James.com

  5. I've had the pleasure of a close up and personal inspection of the waterproof/winterised TUM variant.

They are incredible, wade in salt and fresh water up to 1.5M deep, operate in temps as low as -46°C, totally waxoiled during production and also fitted with pre-heaters etc. That just demonstrates what a great company Land Rover are being able to produce a vehicle with that ability

The snorkels are uber ugly but when it comes to functionality, looks don't sure count for much

Hello, the original miltary wolf MANTEC kits are availble from www.lrseries.com however you have to ask for them as they are not in their MANTEC section. As in one of the previous replys you will have to specify whicjh side you require as they do one for left and another for right hand drive.

They supply BLanchards with them for their wolfs (they may have some photos on the web site sory dont know their web address).

    Hope this helps, james..

  6. Hi all,

My series 3 (21/4 petrol) has sat for a few years with irregular use and is due to be returned to the road soon. I have bought oils and filters and new ignition electrics to replace whats there, and plan on doing a service at about a thousand miles. The engine and gearbox have both been replaced (before the 'rest') and i want to look after her. A mate said that i ought to change the cam belt as they deteriorate after sitting (I don't want the timing to go wrong) should I? and is there anything else i would need to do. She was in next to perfect condition before, what parts would die and need replacing after a little 'rest'?

    Cheers for help, David

  7. hi guys , im needing two stop and tail lights , ive got the lenses , i just need the body/socket thingy.

any ideas where i can find a couple?

Sorry i dont know which type you have i am presuming the miltary type with the plastci and metal lenese, if so you can buy all the bits individually or as a compleet unit (less lense if need be) at either blanchards (pa) or L R Series they are both on the web and both have on line stores.

Hope this helps. PS or the dreaded eBay!!

  8. Hi, your rear springs will be the wide type for this year, the front springs you will have to measure acroos the flat this will be either around 2.5"_3" for the narrow and about 0.5-1" wider for the wide type, if its the wide type normal series 2,2a springs will fit.

The bulkhead outriggers are availble at www.lrseries.com and they also stock the springs under the correct part numbers as in your parts book (the outrigger i am not to sure of sorry).

    Hope this helps.
