  1. Hi,

I'm thinking of getting an automatic 200 series disco. I know there isn't too many of them around, but I've seen a few of them floating around on eBay and they tickle my fancy a little bit. I'm quite seriously thinking of 'investing' in one. I was wondering if it's a combination that works well as my only experiences have been with a TD5 disco and a 300, both manuals. It wouldn't be for the daily commute or anything, it would be purely for the rough stuff and greenlanes, which is why I thought the auto might be appropriate. Any experiences/comments(helpful ones, mind)/ suggestions much appreciated.

    Ta.

  2. I would recommend it, my dad swapped in his evo 8 for one and has never looked back! It's a facelifted version, late 2002, bonatti grey ~ B)

Just returned from a 700-mile round trip from Scotland and it never missed a beat. Was perfect, returned 30MPG, even with all the big hills, kept a steady 70MPH on the twisty roads, reasonably quiet and VERY comfortable. It's getting taken off-road soon :)

It's a non-ACE truck but it feels feels very solid, and stable throught the corners, and the only person I know with one that's got ACE had problems with the system! Mine's a manual, which is just as relaxing as the auto, but with better fuel consumption and a lil extra oomph when you need it at junctions and the like...although he hankered for an auto at first.

My advice is that it's a practical, comfortable and very capable Landy that is reliable and best of all reasonably cheap to run, compared to an evo at least.. ;)

The earlier ones represent the best value for money, too.

  3. Hey people,

It's been a long time since I logged onto this forum and I apologise if this has already been discussed, but I was wondering if anyone knows what the angle is for a twist-off ramp. I.e. what angle would I need to set the ramp up for if I was making my own. Whoever answers can have the first go on mine when it's built :D

    Cheers. Al.

  4. i take all of Top gears tests with a pinch of salt... you can engineer the outcome to make it what ever you want if you try hard enough....

i'm sure Clarkson is on backhander from Ferrari and BMW....

I'm inclined to agree, especially the engineering the outcome part of it (I'm pretty sure that 5th gear's matching a series1 disco with a three year old espace was a bit wide of the mark).

  5. Has anyone had any experience of installing/using one?

I'm also worried that when I switch the ignition to 'ON' then press the button that the ignition won't return to a normal position as it would when using the spring action when using the key as this feature is made redundant by the button. Any help greatly appreciated.

This is the one I had in mind ( the illuminated one.)

    richbrook starter button.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

P.S Yes, I do know it's chavvy and imature but sometimes one cannot help one's self.

  6. Hello people,

Just wondering, I was going to build a monster Disco but have fallen under the spell of a LWB Series 3. However, I'm still drawn to massive tyres and just wondered if any of you on here have had any experience of Portals, i.e fitting them, running them, any problems ect. Are they worth the money?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Al. :)

  7. Last time I went I posted what I didn't get and got most of it on here....

.....so this is what I need....

    Series (Front) Door cards

    Fairey Overdrive main gear

QT Diff guard (bolt under type)

    White paint

    Black paint!

Think I can sort out the door cards for you, mate...
