I have an 03 TD5 which, on occasion and when in first, either pulling away or slowing to a stop, the engine will splutter, a puff of black smoke will accompany the engine management light coming on and it threatens to cut out/stall. A friend rescued me the first time this happened as I pulled out of a quiet junction and stalled in the middle of the road. whilst I was fearing the worst, he arrived, pressed the inertia switch and bingo, no apparent issues and off I went. It’s happened twice since so I’m wondering if there might be some experience in the group of underlying potential issues or if this is a common occurrence with no nasty surprises I need to worry about.
