Old Petrol Going 'off'

Although the specific application in which I'm having this problem is not the RR, I reckon it's a problem others must be having with land rovers.

I run a 1983 Yamaha TT600 enduro bike as a toy. Single cylinder air cooled four stroke. Pretty low tech stuff.

I don't use it much, and I'm sure the petrol in the tank and carb is going 'off' after sitting for a month or two.

There also seems to be an alarmingly fast varnish build up in the carb.

As it's a bike I can turn the fuel off and run the carb dry before putting it away, but does anyone have any suggestions of things to add to the fuel to help combat the varnish build up in the carb??

I'm sure this never used to happen with four star.

I suspect some vehicles may be more prone to it than others. My Su**ki has been sat for a couple of years but still starts and runs fine - but then it always was boringly reliable <_<

Frost have this stuff, which looks like what you're after. I believe my local motor factor sells something similar, albeit in a much smaller bottle - might be worth enquiring with yours.
