immobiisation override problem

Dear all,

I have a 2003 Defender TD5, today the remote stopped working without any prevoius signs of possible problems.

The spare did not work either, but this is on his original battery, so I changed for a new one, no result.

I've read the manual, so I tried the ignition key override procedure: no success

Perhaps these signs can help on solving the problem:

1/ when entering the ignition key procedure (5 seconds on II), the horn goes twice short, I did not find any source of this being normal,

2/ after entering the last digit, the horn goes again twice (I leave the ignition key only 1 second in II when entering, so this would not mean that I'm restarting the procedure),

3/ when retrying the procedure, the horn does not go these two times, I have to wait the 30 minutes time out, to get it again (I thought I had 3 chances?),

4/ my interior lamp stopped working a long time ago (when opening doors, no light but the bulb is OK), is my door opening not detected?

but the immobilisation lamp stays on instead of flashing when opening the door

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Will

As the disarming procedure relies on the drivers door being open and shut to enter each number I think it (or poss. they) are the problem.

I think it would also mean the alarm system has not been fully functioning as well.

Take the switch out and see if you can manually do the same job as the switch by touching wires together!

The alarm was ok until yesterday so I investigated a bit further this morning: the door contact could not be a problem as the horn sounds twice after closing the door on the last EKA digit.

PROBLEM SOLVED by disconnecting the battery for about 1 minute.

Thanks for looking into this!
