Froggie
This is a cut down version of the original topic which can be found here Thanks to CIPX2 for providing most of the text (the pictures are my work of art !!) Testing the Fuel Pump Using a multimeter:- 1. Check for continuity betwwen the Black pin & White/Purple Pin - There should be continuity 2. Check resistance betwen the same 2 pins should be approx 145ohms if using the genuine LR part Also when the ignition is turned to position II you should hear the pump "buzzing" If either of those tests fail, the chance is you have a duff pump. Replacing the pump. The easiest thing to do is remove the 4 pipes from the Fuel pump, dont worry about breaking the the multicoloured clips (Green/Blue/Black/Grey), as these are supplied with the new fuel pump Remove the IN TANK FUEL PUMP SEAL, if you dont have the £200 tool to do this just tap it using a large screwdriver or chisel, the fuel pump will pop up once the seal is loosend. Refitting can be a little tricky. 1. Make sure the gasket is flush 1. line the pump up and push it all the way down into the gasket. 2. If you have no friends like me, then stand on the pump to hold it in place while you fiddle to get the IN TANK FUEL PUMP SEAL back on.
