Gareth Dickens Posted November 29, 2009 Share Posted November 29, 2009 Your deep cycle battery is made for smaller current draw over a longer period and can be run "flatter" than a normal battery, but they don't like heavy current drained from them (starting for example). You can for example run a deep cycle battery to 50% of it's capacity and recharge it without any damage whereas it will damage a normal battery if it dips below 80% of it's charge. Look into a new lead calcium battery as they have good all round ability. Best yet set up a dual battery system with one normal battery as a main battery and a deep cycle for your utilities.
