Hi guys

thinking of fitting my winch that i have had still in its box for about 6 months and want to know what battery to go for.

the landy is a s11a swb other than having a tdi fitted its pretty std electrics are std no added lights fitted and i am using a std tdi 65A alternator.

Your deep cycle battery is made for smaller current draw over a longer period and can be run "flatter" than a normal battery, but they don't like heavy current drained from them (starting for example). You can for example run a deep cycle battery to 50% of it's capacity and recharge it without any damage whereas it will damage a normal battery if it dips below 80% of it's charge.

Look into a new lead calcium battery as they have good all round ability.

Best yet set up a dual battery system with one normal battery as a main battery and a deep cycle for your utilities.
