DenmarkThor
I have a frequent problem with the ignition in my Discovery Td5 from 99. When I turn the key the lights are on but there is no reaction when I turn the key. There a no "relay-clicking" from the starter etc. It is just dead. After a few turns it starts at once and the problem can be gone for days and weeks.
ches
had a the same problem recently and it was the starter solenoid contacts. a repair kit is available on ebay for approx £10. the starter has to be removed. the top bolt on the starter is the most difficult to remove,it is 15mm unlike the two easy bolts which are 13mm. you need a 3/8 drive socket on a 6" extension bar for easy removal. the 1/2 drive socket does not fit square to the bolt.
