monkeyb0y
Hi, my R380 has whined for 3 years that ive had it. It is no worse, it crunches if i race it into 2nd so i dont..It jumps out of 2nd once a month. It has got no worse - i am sure. As a general question, do the gearboxes whine after a bit anyway, or should a decent one be pretty silent. Im reluctant to swap it, but, the rear crankshaft oil seal is leaking, - again, not bad and no worse than when i brought it - losing half pint every 3months.. Do they all whine is my question?. If not, then i have an excuse to change it and do the oil seal at the same time....and clutch for good measure. Rich
DDO173
Are you 100% sure its the gearbox that whines. Normally whine can be attributed to the LT230 transfer box. Mine had a slight whine and tonnes of slop, so i rebuilt it and now the transmission is much tighter and quiet.
