  1. Here's another one from the top of stanage about 1/4 from the the previous picture, fantastic scenery up there, Nick.
  2. I think this is the same spot taken in 2006 my first of many trips on Stanedge (not me in the pic) cheers, Nick.
  3. Yesterday I put a new cable on, and it worked ok, today nothing, zilch, zero absolutely bugger all, wouldn't mind so much but its a right fiddly little shizeter to screw the 3 screws back in and I lay in the pouring rain for ages trying to maintain my temper, oh well I suppose another year with no speedo can't hurt ?????????? lol Nick.
  4. The reason it was difficult was due to the bracket which holds the throttle cable that severely gets in the way, so I had to take that off first which was a pain in the ar5e because the bolts are allen keys and I could only turn it 1/4 of a turn at a time, but hey ho sorted now, thanks, Nick.
  5. I have a series 3 with a 200Tdi out of a disco fitted, last year I had to replace the stop solonoid as the piston type thingy seased to work and the same has happened again last weekend, is this a common thing with these or is more likely to be due to the quite heavy vibrations I get on my S3 that has caused it to go ? If you've never had to change one, they're a right pig to get at, took me over an hour for what is a 2 minute job, Cheers, Nick.
  6. I've took the cable off at the g/box end and there is no sign of a square end, so either it's rounded off or the end has broken off, so it's another trip to paddocks in the morning for a new one. Cheers, Nick.
  7. I live off homegate road which is the opposite end to Batemans mill opposite the library, and this is what you're looking for, Cheers, Nick.
  8. Thanks for the advice gents, plenty to go at there to keep me busy. Nick.
  9. Mortus, how do you head into the wild if you're only 16, I live in Clay Cross and will be heading out into that wild beyond next weekend, lol, Nick.
  10. My speedo no longer works in my S3 88" I've checked to see that it's connected at both ends which it is, I only put it on as new a year back, so what could it be ? any ideas greatly appreciated, also I hope it's not too difficult to fix. Nick
  11. This is yerlandy, which was lovingly restored after sitting in a barn for around 8 years.
  12. I used the standard Disco exhaust, the engine now sits slightly off line as you look at it in the engine bay, this was because the down pipe caught on the chassis , it's not ideal but it works, I had the front section of the disco pipe welded to the rear section of a standard S3 exhaust by stepping down the bore. I've also not used the intercooler, I have an oil cooler off a 2.5 mitsibishi shogun and the standard S3 rad, I also have a snorkel fitted which I've adapted to use as the air filter with the element mounted on the top. Cheers, Nick.
  13. Hi all, I have a 200Tdi in my series 88" and yess it does wreck the drive train (only whilst driving on serious lanes though) I have broke the front half shaft once and the rear twice, now I,ve modified and fitted a Salisbury rear axle and things are fine for now. the reason a 200Tdi would wreck the drive train and not the more powerfull V8 is all to do with the Turbo boost, on a V8 the power delivery is nice and smooth from the second you put your footdown, however on a turbo you have to wait for the pressure to build and then the power is released all at once, breaking the weakest parts in turn, hope this makes sense ? I had my engine mounts made up, but I'm interestd to know if the disco mounts stop the vibes as mine is terrible, so much so that I've had to increase the idle speed. thanks, Nick.
