  2. thanks will test them 4 +1 haha at the moment it is not using that much seems to bee stable for a couple of weeks like 2 or 3 but then there will be a sudden drop in the oil level (250ml) I do check it every day before driving it. if I level the engine Idling and open the oil cap a foggy / smoke mist is visible.
  3. If have a bit of a problem with sump compression and losing oil on a weekly basis. What I would like to ask is how to evaluate the problem and when to start looking at redoing the engine. Is there an alternative to minimize the symptoms and extend the life of the engine?
  4. I tow started the discovery yesterday it started and the engine sounded smooth but as soon as I place my foot on the fuel pedal the engine shut off. Okay I just had a look at the injector harness that seems fine there is no oil leak at the plug. I cleaned the red ECU plug. But still the disco does not start.

  6. Hai, yesterday I filled my discovery td5 up and drove about 130 km with the tank then parked the discovery for about 2 ours then got into it again to drive to work. Within 2 km from parked position the fuel filter light came on and then the engine light then the engine turned off automatically. I thought that it can be water in the diesel and drained the filter next to the road after this the car started and I was able to drive 50 meters when the same thing happened. Towing it back home I replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the sensor but still the discovery does not start, when the ignition is turner so that the warning lights show, the engine light flash on and off. Please there is any advice to what this problem can be and how it can be solved?
  7. I have a 2001 land rover discovery td5 manual and ill like to know, way my high and low shift gear stick only shifts between high and low range and does not give the option for locking the center diff, while other discovery’s do give that option. Is it the year model or the GS model that works this way and is it a problem or lack of capability when going on the off-road, and lastly does it ever lock the canter diff when in low range?
  8. Hey I have a 2001 TD5 manual discovery it recently developed a problem in selecting gears. Going from 1st to 2nd to 3rd ,4th and 5th no problem but if I shift down from 3rd to 2nd the gears grind and do not want to shift down. strangely it does go in to 2nd from 3rd, perfectly if I’m driving under 20km/h. As a student I’m concerned about how BIG! this problem is/or can become??
