At the end of January 2014 I bought a 2003 Freelander 2.5l V6 with just over 80k miles on the odometer. In the beginning of May it had under 81500 miles but overheated when the weather warmed up and outside temperatures reached the high 90 degrees (I live in Southern California). I replaced the thermostat but found that the water pumped had developed a leak and the water kept leaking out. I replaced the water pump to stop the leak and also replaced the radiator and radiator cap (on the reservoir tank). This is when I found that the odometer reading jumped 50k to 134500 miles. How is this possible?
In addition, the engine performance is different. It sometimes misses and lacks power. Then it seems to be run well again.
