  3. Thanks Tris so much for your help, i wrote on the members forum: Can anyone help me!! My land Rover was stolen today from the Royal Berkshire show near Newbury It is a 1989 Land Rover 90 defender, its Belize Green, with a white ribbed roof, It also has a large metal bullbar, winch, snorkel, sump guard, side steps, full chequer plate kit including plating round the filler neck, driving lights,Tow bar, orange beacon on the front bumper, Nudge plates on the bumper, off road tyres, special alloys(cant remember what they are called exactly), a decent sound system( sony xplod i think) with Ipod connector a dog guard, it also had a pair of decent modern defender front seats and the full sound deadening rubber matting fitted. Noticeable things, is one high beam light doesnt work(drivers side), theres a rope wrapped around the top of the bullbar, and there is a large area on the roof where there is paint missing from some corrosion, there is also corrosion under the paint on the rear door, and corrosion at the back of the rear edge of the tub. It has a Nissan Patrol 2.8 straight 6 TDI engine fitted The registration plate is B19 GKM, It was stolen between 12:30 and 5pm today on the 21st of September. If anyone has any info as to where it might be i am begging you to tell me!!! My phone number is 07766 078 848 or 01442 872 475, and my email is grant-mundy@hotmail.co.uk There is a reward if found!!!! And i really mean it i want my Landy back!!! 6. Thanks everyone for the help! In the end i found out when it went from whining to banging, grinding and clunking on a byway it turned out to be the rear diff bearing had gone, and it was slowly getting worse and worse, so bad now that you can move the propshaft around in any direction so it has had it! Hoping that it is the noise and its going to go away! Thanks again everyone!

  11. If you head out of St Albans towards Redbourn, go a 100 yards past that gay bar (Fudge, I think its called) & turn right on the little road down to Redbournbury Mill, where there is a nice ford to cross. This can be a great ford after heavy rain, and not bad at any other time. Follow this track on for a hundred metres or so to the next ford (a bit shallower.) Wade through & head straight on, DONT turn sharp left IN the ford. You can follow this track for a couple of miles. It is predominantley a surfaced road, but a pleasant drive nonetheless. If you drive it on a Sunday, there will be several 4x4's driving here, so there are a couple of opportunities to drive on the side slopes, as passing places are non-existent. At the end of the track, turn left onto the main road, then take your very next right, towards the golf course. Hi Martin Is this track called Beesonend Lane????? Also do you have any more lane names so i can find them easily on google maps aswell? Thanks again!!
  12. Hi, anyone know of any good lanes near the St Albans, Berkhamstead, Hemel Hempstead, Bovingdon type of area??? Nearer the better!!! Thanks Grant

  14. ha ok, hammers usually work for me, tried and failed ha ha Anybody else got any thoughts and remedies?? Thanks
  15. thanks guys, the noise is more precise than that, its a definate low whineing, groaning noise , all the time not necessarily on corners, however not a whistling noise, and when you have your foot on the clutch and your coasting there is no noise even at 30 mph or 40mph (if rolling downhill!!!!)it doesnt make a noise, so i am guessing clutch, however not 100% sure what component if it is the clutch and also not sure of a rememdy!!! Quick fix is usually good
  16. Hi there, Can anyone help me?? I have a 1989 defender with a nissan patrol engine in it which pulls and drives really well until..... recently over 20mph i started to get a weird whining noise when driving, i checked the gearbox and transfer box, they both had loads of oil and are reasonably new reconditioned units..... The car still drives really well, there is no difficulty in any gears in high or low ratio with difflock on or off. Any suggestions?????? and is it something to worry about or will there be no harm done..... Thanks Grant
