  2. My 98 V8 discovery won't idle properly. Sometime it idles OK when cold sometimes not.Its worse when its hot, it only idles at about 500 but seems a bit lumpy.

Ignition leads, plugs rotar, cap, crankcase breather filter etc all recently new drives and revs OK just an idle problem.

Cleaning the idle valve fixed it for a short while, tried cleaning again yesterday made no difference.

Anybody had any issues similar to this and what fixed it.

Going to clean the plenum out and tweak base idle next I think.

  3. Thanks for the replies. I have manged to find some anti rattle coating that sticks to the back of the pads. I have seen it before but never on its own. The current pads dont have it on them so its got to be worth a go, and should hopefully fix it.

  4. Some time ago I changed the front pads on my disco but the rattle springs were rotten so I had to build it back up without them. So hence the pads rattled a bit.

Less than a 1000miles ago I have changed the front discs as they were shot along with new front pads and a new set of pad pins and anti rattle springs. I had to build it up without copper slip as I couldnt find it. The pads are still rattling only notice it at low speed pulling up at lights etc. if you touch the brake pedal slightly it stops so I am pretty sure it is the pads. I dont think copper slip will stop it but I will give it a go as I have got some now.

Any ideas please as the rattling sounds really bad with the window down in the hot weather??

  5. I have fitted the flasher unit AMR 4873 with the hazards on its flashed the trailer dash light , with the indicators it flashed the trailer dash light once but indicators flash really fast. should the 300 disco have indicators in the same place as the 200 on the rear plus the bumper or just in the bumper? mine is only in the bumper, what else would cause this? I think its to do with the number of bulbs being flashed?

  6. At some point I need to fit a secondary electric socket for the caravan to the disco. Am I right that there are wires already for the seconadry electrics near the round multi pin plug in the loom for the normal trailer electrics. If so will I need any additional split charge relays or anything? in order to be able to charge the caravan and run the fridge?

  7. I have a 98 discovery with a normal black trailer socket, it all works as it should on the trailer/carvan however the trailer wairning light on the dash dosent flash, does the flasher unit need changing to get it to flash or ahould it just flash itself when the trailer plug is in? assuming the bulbs not go where should I start looking to sort it our?
