TD5 Traction Control nightmare - please advise
jibbyman replied to SonnyJ's topic in Discovery Forum
Ok if you have just road tyres fitted this sound is normal I presume. -
I had a problem like this went to garage after garage in the end I noticed if I filled my fuel tank all the way up it started first time . So I use to fill up when It dropped to 3/4 of a tank, after doing this for a while it cured it worth a try.

Mine sounds like a bag of nails as well so I presume its normal . -
Try taking glow plugs out before start up to see if there damp .
-
Sorry for not being clear.I use a mixture of pressing fob open and close .the interior light is very dim and also when I press fob there is an unusual squealing noise coming from somewhere in dashboard.
-
Now and then when I turn my ignition on the display is blank apart from a dimley lit SRS light if I take the key out and play around with the fob and putting the key back in it seems to rectify itself .The cars a td5 any help welcome thanks.
-
I suppose you could , good idea .

Thanks Sierrafery at least now With the part number I can look for a cheap one .Should there be one for the Auto and one for the manual box ?
-
By main loom do you mean injector harness as this was first port of call.Garage said engine loom had to much oil in to let it dry out.
-
The garage has told me I need a new injector harness so ok but also engine loom , this is where the problem is none of the spares places seems to be of help with the right part .Landrover want £450 but I wondered if there is a aftermarket supplier. I could do with a part no or a link , its a 51 plate auto box chassis no SALLTGM832A738824 .The part needs to match with this later chassis no .Thanks for reading STEVE .

I would say check glow plugs and do it when left standing overnight so you can see if you have any leaky injectors , glow plugs will appear wet .
-
Problem solved , there was no play in any of the bearings , no noise or clicking on full lock more of a thump which sounded and felt was coming from off side .After swapping and one new bearing "cheap one off ebay" near side bearing worn , no noise .
-
Had a look at prop no obvious play can turn it about 5 -10 degrees .cheers
-
Thanks John , whats the best way to check cv joints . Cheers Steve
-
Hi guy's I have a loud thumping noise coming from around front diff area which is really noticeable when turning right .Checked hubs and replaced one , new pads and discs , no play in cv or front drive shaft ..Plenty of oil in diff .Its a disco td5 auto with 88000 miles Do you think its the diif .Cheers Steve
