  1. Hi, Many cranks to start cold. Several cranks when warm - sometimes many sometimes one or two. I'm suspecting fuel draining away promptly after a stop, requiring a vacuum to pull it back. Also the duff glow plug system won't help - I plan to overide that with a remote push button ... once i can work out where the glow relay is located! Any ideas on that location? Thanks!
  2. Hi, It seems that pre-2004 diesels don't support OBD. Do the older Freelanders have any sort of ODB code readout method? Or will I have to vist a dealer? Many thanks.
  3. Hi, My TD4 (2003) won't start easily when cold. I thought that it was the fuel pump, but a mechanic friend identified that the plugs won't working. In fact all plugs were open circuit - so have been replaced. However ... no change ... no power is reaching the plugs. There is a timed click when turning to the middle ignition position ... but no glow plug (curly wire) icon appears on the dash, and the plugs don't heat. The glow fuse is fine. Sooooo ... is this due to a duff glow relay? Or is there a circuit board that has packed up? Any ideas? (By the way, where is the glow relay located? I'll change it if I can reach it!) Many thanks.
  4. Hi, Another newbie here - with the same problem ... poorly starting TD4 2003, especially on cold mornings. The injector seals have been checked and some dodgy plumbing has been replaced. The car starts better now - but not yet perfect, so maybe two faults? I now want to check the glow plug resistances ... but can I locate the plugs??? Doh, no. Anyway, I downloaded the RAVE .iso for advice ... but I can't read it ... "unsupported encrypted PDFs" ??? Any tips on where to find the glow plugs in the engine bay and/or how to make the RAVE .iso work would be most appreciated! Many thanks!
