  1. Hello all My Td5 won't start - the immobiliser doesn't respond but have changed the battery in the remote, and nothing has changed. Battery is connected properly and charged... nothing happens when the key is turned in the ignition (not even any dashboard lights etc) Is there something I'm missing?! The vehicle had been left idle for about 4 weeks... but not moved and before then was working fine. I have checked the battery (its on a dual battery anyway so wasn't likely to be that) but it seems fine
  2. How much play should there be in the steering wheel? If I dry steer, it turns about 1-2cm with a clunking sound in each direction that can be felt in the steering wheel... is this normal?
  3. I cleared the aforementioned codes 4 weeks ago. Now plugged in the nano again and get these: 01-05 turbocharger wastegate short circuit CURRENT 02-08 ambient pressure circuit LOGGED 03-05 driver demand problem 1 CURRENT 04-01 inlet air temperature circuit CURRENT 04-03 coolant temperature circuit CURRENT 10-04 gearbox/abs drive open load LOGGED 14-04 gearbox/abs drive open load CURRENT What should I be looking for? Any ideas why the sudden circuit errors, and the driver demand is strange too Many thx in adv from an inexperienced LR owner
  4. I am trying without success to remove my rear diff cover on my 110... it won't budge at all, have hit it hard with a rubber hammer, gone along the edges with a knife to try to break the gasket seal... Any ideas?!!
  5. All seems nice and tight to me on both ends of the steering shaft... could it be something nearer the steering wheel itself?
  6. I recently had to drive on some very corrugated roads and have since noticed a knocking sound from the steering wheel - this occurs only at low speeds (<20km/h) and particularly when on unpaved roads, when the 'knock' can be felt (some resistance in the steering wheel) Any ideas?
  7. Thats what it was, thanks for your help. Got it rewired and earthed properly to the battery and it seems fine now...
  8. Hi, I've been driving today on corrugated roads in Namibia and suddenly the engine began to lose power, the battery and oil warning lights came on and the engine cut out. I restarted the engine and it was fine for 5 mins before it did the same thing again and again.... Any ideas as to what could have happened? It seems like something might have been knocked loose but I can't find anything.... Any help would be appreciated... Cheers Andy
  9. Many thanks all... Is it worth me clearing all or some of these errors and seeing if they reappear?
  10. It'll be a couple of weeks before I'll be able to get hold of a new one (I live in Botswana), how often would you check for oil and remove in the meantime? thanks for your help
  11. There is oil in the red end of the ECU plug (where it goes into the ECU)... Not much, but it covers a few of the connectors. Whats the best way to clean it out?
  12. I have a nanocom and it has come up with the following faults: FAULT 10-04 gearbox/abs drive open load LOGGED FAULT 10-06 mil lamp drive open load LOGGED FAULT 10-07 glowplug lamp drive open load LOGGED FAULT 14-04 gearbox/abs drive open load CURRENT FAULT 15-02 High speed crank LOGGED FAULT 27-02 injector 2 peak charge long LOGGED FAULT 27-03 injector 3 peak charge long LOGGED FAULT 31-04 injector 4 open circuit LOGGED The vehicle also has problems starting after it has been sitting a while (esp overnight / when engine cold) but otherwise seems ok apart from a noisy fuel pump Are any of these worth worrying about / what would you advise doing? Please excuse my ignorance - I am learning... slowly! Many thanks in advance
  13. I have a nanocom and it has come up with the following faults: FAULT 10-04 gearbox/abs drive open load LOGGED FAULT 10-06 mil lamp drive open load LOGGED FAULT 10-07 glowplug lamp drive open load LOGGED FAULT 14-04 gearbox/abs drive open load CURRENT FAULT 15-02 High speed crank LOGGED FAULT 27-02 injector 2 peak charge long LOGGED FAULT 27-03 injector 3 peak charge long LOGGED FAULT 31-04 injector 4 open circuit LOGGED As a side issue, the vehicle also has problems starting after it has been sitting a while (esp overnight / when engine cold) I do apologise for my ignorance (you are probably sitting there thinking what on earth does this guy have a nanocom for?) but I am learning the slow and hard way... live in Africa with nearest dealer 100 miles away and local garages don't care for Landys
  14. Hi all I was told by my LR dealer that I needed a new fuel pump... my old one was beginning to whine (it never used to do it). I replaced the fuel pump, but the new pump is even louder!?! What should I be looking for? The whine is constant, even when the engine is hot and the vehicle is running - loud enough for you to hear it across a car park thanks in advance... (2002 Td5 Defender)
  15. It was the clutch switch, unplugged it and its fine... I'm in Africa and the part isn't available locally so it'll be a while until I can get hold of a replacement... I'm not doing any harm driving it with it unplugged am I? Many thanks to you all
