Is removing the egr valve worth all the trouble and will there be any noticeable gain in MPG?

All fixed now,oil pump on the back of the alternator was the problem and as luck has it. It was still under guarantee. There is a God after all.

Yet another quick word, I'm going to try to remove some of the play in the box, but unable to find the adjuster. If someone could tell where it is located on the box it would be a great help. All I have read refers to a large nut with an allen key in the centre, all I can find on the left-hand side is large screw with an allen at the bottom.

Thing about trying to remove some of the play in the steering and how adjust,advice needed please.

Thanks' for that, the oil seems to drip off the bottom of the alternator and is difficult to see exactly where it is coming from.

Hi first would like to say hello as this is my first post on the forum. My 02 plate tdi has started leaking oil from behind or on top of the alternator, any ideas would be greatly appreciated please.
