  1. not much oil leaking but enough ! could not see any thing on mounting face but fitted 2nd seal with smeer of jointing compound.

crankshaft hopfully is not out of alinement but you never know !

am going to blow out all breather pipes etc & try that route first hope for the best !

  2. i changed the cambelt & all the oil seals in front timing chest as well as the gasket between the timing chest & block. had the sump off & replaced with tube of genuine landrover gasket sealer. put it all back together & after 250miles had oil leaking from drain hole in front timing chest. removed it to find new crank seal leaking. so replaced it again along with another new cambelt ( due to oil contamination ) replaced breather on rocker cover with new one. now after 1000 miles have got small amount of oil coming from drain hole in timing chest again. engine has had new rings, conrods, big ends & mains & new head. has any body got any ideas as to why this is happing. any sugestions would be good as it is driving me mad. cheers.

  3. its realy easy, undo engine mounts, get a trolley jack (or bottle jack) and support the gearbox, undo bellhousing bolts but leave a few in for now, get your lifting crane and take the wieght of the engine. then remove the remaining bolts, lift up engine and jack up the bellhousing so its nearly touching the bulkhead, slide out engine mounts then if your lucky give the engine a riggle and out it will come. easy as that....

    good luck :)

  4. was having a look through d44s site and come accross this,

    http://www.devon4x4.com/component/option,c...uct,1229/cat,43

    good idea but at £345!

No wounder they can afford to throw 30k+ at a 110 when people are paying that much for there stuff!!

don't forget all this is hand made and steel is at a high price. all parts are laser cut and to high standard. if you don't like the price don't buy it some one will make a cheaper copy sooner or latter.

  5. yes there is a small serpintine belt from that spare slot up to pump & the adjuster pulley fits in place of the cover on the timing chest that covers the fuel pump. ( the little round disc fitted with 3 bolts on the top left of timing chest as you look at engine.) you can find these at breakers yard or on ebay as a lot on disco's were fitted with aircon.

  6. a rover 820 engine is the same & easy to find. but run it first as they can be a litle smokey. a friend of mine converted his to tdi, you have to weld on engine mounts & change gearbox to suit tdi. the mpi was a little under powered but quite a nice drive all the same. would be better to buy tdi rather than convert it though.

  7. i fitted isuzu 2.8 into my high-cap 18 months ago best thing i have done, 35 mpg all the time no matter how hard i drive, pulls like hell & very reilable. got kit from conversion & persion including exaust down pipe. i have other landrover with tdi's in them & also have no complants but the isuzu is the better drive, quite & better on fuel. was very easy to fit too. go for it !!!!
