[Part Numbers]

From the Land Rover parts manual for the 110 upto August 1986 (in the 2.25 petrol engine section), the part number ETC5297 is a "Breather Silencer Assy, which is used with the latest type rocker cover (ETC5955) which uses the breather filter hole as the oil filler".

According to the diagram it sits on the rear most bolt of the rocker cover & appears to be a rubber bushing of some kind.

This may not be the answer to your quest, but might be?

Had a similar problem with a "Flapper" system that I had installed on my 110 V8,

The engine would run fine for days, then all of a sudden when it got hot it would misfire as if it was out of fuel.

Open the bonnet & let it cool down & off it would go again sometimes for months.

Eventually I tracked it down to the wires from the distributer base plate, they would occasionally move too far under load

& the engine would play up.

Replacing the base plate & Hall effect sensor cured the fault. I sold it 12 months ago & according to the chap I sold it to it was

running around Russia up to a few weeks ago without any further problems!

[Discovery Series 1 Sill replacement]

Gentlemen, I am looking for a set of replacement sills that incorporate rock sliders / tree bars (as I have a perpensity to find buried posts with the side of the vehicle) as featured in May issue of LRo by RDH engineering Corby.

Now the problem, the phone number given is now un-obtainable & they don't come up on searches i.e. Ask.com or yellow pages. Are they still going or is there any other company you can recommend that I should speak to for the same product?

Thank you for posting this, you have saved me a great deal of head scratching on how I was going to mount a second altenator on my discovery for this purpose. Just a quick question, do you know off hand the reference for the belt form the aircon pump to the altenator?

[Rear Body Mounts rusted]

As the topic says, the rear body mounts on the 94 Tdi are well on the way to their former pre-metallic state.

Point One - Is this an MOT failure?

Point Two - does anyone know where I could get a set (easier than making them)...

Nick, I have the same problem on my '93 S1 Discovery, when I got it MOT'd I was advised that these were quite rusty but not a failure as the body was still well supported. The part numbers from the LR parts catalogue are: Chassis-no5 b/mtg LH STC9133 & Chassis-no5 b/mtg RH STC9134.
