  1. ;) I must admit I found myself searching for the Skip Intro button but none was found.

    Where do you meet mudmad?

    Cheers,

    Dave.

as the site says things are still under development, changes are being made daily and comments/feedback is always welcomed .

events/days out are regular and vary on location depending on who's going we try our best to meet somewhere in the middle so traveling is split equally and its always down to a vote by members where an when. although a lot of time is spent around M4 corridor swindon, wiltshire ect...

  2. Firstly apologies to all those not based in and around Swindon, although you'd be more than welcome to join in if you don't mind the travelling!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there is a Land Rover club in the Swindon area is there? There seems to be a fair amount of Land Rover owners in and around the area so I presume there would be some interest. The nearest option for me (I live near Cricklade) seems to be CCROC (Cotswold and Cheltenham Rover Owners Club). I went along for a while but it's a bit of a trek to their events and they are a bit biassed towards RTV/Tyro trials etc, very little green laning. I do a lot of green laning in the Swindon area, and we're a bit spoilt for byways around here. Is anybody interested in setting up a club and having, say, a regular monthly meeting in a drinking establishment to be determined, and having regular informal green laning / byway organised trips? Although I wouldn't rule out RTV/Tyro type events, I've attended a few and there's far too much standing around for my liking, I would rather be out and about moving all day. That is my opinion of course, your mileage may vary.

Let me know either by reply or PM whether you would be interested and we can move discussions forward.

    Cheers,

    Dave.

glos4x4a new club welcoming new members/event organisers/forum moderators & massive member discounts on landy bits, some cases as much as 50% normal price, well worth a look .

  3. evening all ,

i was hoping that someone on here might know if there is anywhere you can download the maps for memory-map ? , or maybe even a generous member willing to send me a couple of maps for me to try, I'm willing to pay or a donation to the forum ..............please :-)

  4. Hi all,

I have been debating on changing my engine for a while now, due to the piston rings, but today she finally died  so now i'm torn between a straight swap fro the same or a 2.8 isuzu lump . a friend of mine has one in his landy and he swears by them , and i have to admit his motor pulls like a train .

If anyone has any experience on these engines some advise/info would be appreciated

  5. How do you know that it's just the rings that have gone?

    Les.

I'm assuming its the rings as there is no oil presure at idle and its giving out exhaust gasses through the oil breather ,oil filler cap , dip stick tube and there is a knocking thats getting worse ,(cam knock i think)

  6. Well mudmad - you are on Mod approval for tonight - I need to sleep for a while.

Any posts you now make are invisible to anyone except the moderator of this forum and the Admistrators of the website. I'll read any posts you make over night at 3am when I get up. If any are in the same vein as those you have so far posted, then they will be binned. You are way out of order m8.

    Les.

How am i out of order ? , its my opinion that there are double standards on here , i was told today that i could NOT give the location of a lane and then your so called moderator aproved a lane because it was provided by a map , which so far no one has given an account of . so in fact it could be the same or even worse than the one i gave info on

  7. What a load of rubbish - it bears no resemblance to your original post.

    Les.

Off course it does its giving the location of a lane , which is the same ! no matter how you phrase it , so if had given a copy of the map that would of been ok would it ?

DONT MAKE ME LAUGH ! , all comments are subject to aproval by idiots

  8. as it's actually identified by O.S., & it looks to be a UCR [unclassified road] I can't see it's a problem if driven.

DOUBLE STANDARDS on here i think ! , a ucr but no up to date user info so you dont know what its like so in fact you could be aproving a lane for people to visit that's as bad or worse than the lane in wiltshire , also maybe even a copy wright issue ! ?

  9. "That's the sort of photo that the anti 4x4 campiagners are looking for, to use in their case for banning green laning, you should not be 'testing' your vehicle on public rights of way.

I'd have thought as you've stated in another forum your a member of GLass you ought to really know better.

if the lanes are wet & sticky STAY AWAY. give the ground chance to dry out as driving lanes in that condition doesn't help anything or anyone & just makes other think you disregard everything, including the law of the land."

Whats wrong with you ! ? , the lane is there for all to see , and no doubt come the summer i'll be down there with loads of others repairing the damage thats mostly been done by the FARMERS with there TRACTORS go to the lane and see for yourself

if you think i'm liar !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , i also see that someone has put a os map up on the other thread labelled hell lane and you ok'd it . double standards springs to mind !!!!!!!!!!! you either can put lane locations up or you cant , which is it ?

  10. Its like bangin you head against a wall in here ! , the edit i agree with , that was my mistake , after hearing what others had said i totally agree that i shouldn't have gave the location of the lane other than in a pm or e-mail, what pis*sed me off was insinuations that i was killing our sport ,and that i was being a "mong" . if we are honest driving these lanes no matter what state they are in damages them ! .

  11. Im confident that the "anti's" as you call them need more than a comment made in here to get a story printed in the paper or even get a lane closed , they only need spend afew hours with a camera at any of our lanes , but maybe we should all think before posting comments/personal insults about people they don't know !

  12. Firstly I'm not into destroying lanes nor do i want them shut !, i'm a member of glass and spend a lot of time repairing them as well as enjoying them........the lane in question has two tracks side by side and the bad one has been like it for several years the farmers that farm the land at either side of the lane use it as well with there tractors ( hence why its so deep ) . as for me giving the location of the lane i wasn't aware that its "against policy" but seems to me its just down to personal preference on here and not common sense , because if you read my comment i said that "its rough but worth a look" at no point have i told anyone to drive the lane .that i left to the individual to decide there are several lanes that lead to the lane in question all of which are all reasonable........i made the comment because when i'm looking for new lanes i tend to visit them by recommendation than just pot luck...and thought some other local users would appreceate some usefull info..

  13. to answer your questian no i wasnt driving like a mong ! , i cant say the same for the other idiots down there though , but i did a front locker in and the others who were with me did a couple of diffs and a prop . not sure if its the same lane though because you got no chance gettin out the ruts its 4 feet deef in places once your in your in u cant even get your doors open .

  14. I bought 10 fedimas from king off road 3 weeks ago and it cost me £140 each but they were labeled as 35/10.5/16 but are 36.3/4/10.5/16....i have tried simex and to be honest the fedima tyres are a harder compound and last three times longer , if king off road have stopped doing them the website for the place the makes them is http://www.recauchutagem31.pt/portal/index.php if you contact them they will give you the name of your local supplier but have a feeling it will be europe . or if you feel like a drive to the factory in portugal you can buy them there for 100 euro each , which is what king do/did

  15. Hi all ,

i'm just wondering if anyone else on here has been down the lane known as "the lane from hell" its off the A4 [location removed] in wiltshire........ have tried it twice and so far its cost in the region of £1000 in damages between 3 cars allthough i did manage to get all the way down it last time without the winch but its so rough. but it's well worth a look.
