  1. Err..... A doobrie whatsit who? It does have central locking and alarm / immobiliser, but that all still works OK. And it does have a coil type thingy (see I know all the technical terms 😁) around the ignition lock, which I assume is a remote code receiver for the immobiliser. It also blew the main fuse for the immobiliser back in the summer, which may be relevant. The best thing I heard from the main dealer was that they want to know what has been done and tested to save some diagnosis time, which is a pleasant thing to hear from a main dealer.
  2. Well, been through everything at least twice, earth's OK, relays OK, ignition switch OK, fuses OK no signs of shorting or fused wires, basically... Stuffed. So it's going great to the main dealer for a swift 99quid diagnosis. I'll post next Thursday (yes that long to get a booking) once I have a diagnosis and solution, so hopefully if anyone else suffers there may be a quicker solution. Thanks for the help Steve, Scott and jjk, been a great help which if nothing else has ruled out alot of possibilities and helped me get better educated in the mysteries of land rover electrics!! Nigel
  3. Not checked that yet although it crossed my mind. I'll check the relays first and stick the multi meter on the switch barrel aswell. But would the ignition circuit still work as the engine still starts and runs? Thanks for the heads up. Nigel
  4. Hi, Well I have found checked (cleaned and refitted) the common earths on the bulkhead, checked cleaned and refitted the same on the battery terminal (which could be a better solution than what's there so another job for later). I also checked for other forums and found one suggesting the radio, so I had the dash and centre console out and checked for broken, shorting or dodgy wring and found nothing of concern there. And the problem persists with no change. So I put a multi-meter onto the large circuit fuses under the seat, and there is power across all of these, I then checked for power across the non working circuits on the fuse board under the dash, and there seems to be no power reaching these circuits on the fuse board which would suggest a problem between the two. there is a bank of relays under the seat which we didn't test yesterday so.... Thanks for all the help and advice so far, it has been a great help, ruling out possibilities and known issues first. I will post again whether I find the errant component or find out from a main dealer what the issue is, but one more trip to my mechanic for the use of his relay tester first methinks. Nigel
  5. Ahh, that makes sense to me, I'll have a look in the morning, Thanks. And cheers for the steer of where I might look. Alot has changed with the tdci but most is there or thereabouts. Cheers Nigel
  6. No work lately, but worth a try to find the earth points. 😀
  7. Hi, I am hoping someone here may be able to help, I have a major electrical failure on my 2008 110 (2.4TDCi). The headlights are not coming on although the flash for high beam still works and side and rear lights are all ok, along with this all the instrument binnacle warning lights, odometer, speedo, rev counter are also out (although there is still a faint illumination of the hand brake and abs light (on start up) and the back lighting works), along with this all the centre console switches are dead, so no wipers, heated screens & seats, elec windows, etc. Stereo still works and the engine still starts but seems down on power so probably running on safe mode. I have checked all the fuses and relays and all seems in order (tested by my usual go to mechanic), and I am now at a loss as to what may be causing the issue, does anyone have any experience of this happening, I am hoping someone may have a few more ideas to check prior to an undoubtedly expensive trip to a good auto electrician or land rover dealer!!! I have looked through wiring diagrams, but the are not my forte, I was hoping there may be a common power supply to these areas which would be easy to identify, seems not. I have wondered if the ignition switch could be at fault so any thoughts on that would be useful too. Basically....help!!!! Thanks Nigel
