  1. Hi all, I'm new to the site and looking for help in dating my 200tdi Defender 90 County that I believe to be a late 1993 on the change over to 300tdi. I'm told it was an export model and was imported back to the UK in September 2001 and may have been originally in the Chanel Islands before being brought back to the mainland. I do not have the Chanel Island number plate, so the equivalent of the Jersey or Guernsey DVLA have been able to help It was presented to the now closed DVLA office in Worcester (no records available from DVLA Swansea) and I'm told that whoever tried to register it made a mistake on the paperwork, resulting in the Q plate being issued by the DVLA and the V5 showing that it is an imported vehicle - date of manufacture unknown. It now has a SAB VIN. It is a right hand drive model and has a gearbox oil temperature warning light that was not on UK specification models. The running gear, including rear disc brakes, are from a late model 200 TDi, as well as the LT77 Gearbox and LT230 Transfer box it is fitted with, indicate that my vehicle is a 1993 built Defender 90 and it also has a high 11Lengine number, again indicating it's from late 1993. The DVLA have told me that if I can evidence its age or obtain the original SAL VIN number they will give me an age related plate. Gaydon can't help as I've no original chassis number and I've no documents from the import or a record of the Chanel Island number plate. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
