  1. Hello there, Whilst fiddling around with some accessory lights that have never worked, installed by a previous owner, I've discovered/created (either is just as likely) some bigger issues. Now the relays were incorrectly wired, which explained why when I tried to use my full beam I got a lot of chatter from them. Now with the relays and accessories wired up correctly, I get functioning full beam, still no accessory lights but a very stressed alternator whine instead. Now if I remove the relays and accessory lights, the whine disappears. But in an exciting new development I get chatter from the starter motor relay instead. With the engine running, once to twice a second the starter relay gives a little click and the starter itself gets an uncomfortable kick. Additionally, it seems that my battery is no longer getting full charge from the alternator. My battery warning light doesn't seem to know anything about that, but the voltage oscillates between 11.5 and 12.4 in time with the intermittent starter charge. Battery is less than a year old, and I replaced the alternator around 6 months ago, both had been operating perfectly up until I started interfering with these electrics. I've tried running a new ground from the alternator, a new exciter wire, and a new cable from the alternator to the starter, all to no avail. I attempted some voltage drop tests but the reading oscillates in time with the intermittent charge so wildly that it's impossible to get a steady reading. Fresh out of ideas now, help!
