okay I will have a good look tomorrow. it doesn't always do it as this is the second time it has since I have owned it. it normally drives spot on. when I turn the lights on the voltmeter jumps about abit as well, would this be a bad earth or wires touching somewhere under dash?

hi there, I have a defender 90 1988, with a 200tdi disco engine. when I go to start her she starts and runs fine, soon as I turn my headlights on (dipped/full)beam the starting motor starts to engage and stay engage until I turn the lights off again. while that happens the vault meter drops in the red. if any ideas would be very thankfull, thanks sean.
