  1. Cheers Mo.

Must admit my heads spinning with all this. I was looking at the replacements on the Island 4x4 site, they look a straight forward weld on job, im wondering if I can mount the bar to the axel then use that to give me a location to weld them on.

Ive emailed 4x4fab for some answers about my chassis, see what they come back with, then maybe get in touch with DVLA and see if the stories match.... Either way I had the work done in good faith lets hope it follows through.

  2. Hello Mo,

I ve been trying to find a few pictures but all ive come up with are 110s with what appears to be a tank guard , I have nothing like that but just had a close look it appears that some kind of fixture has been cut off, Just wondering if I could fabricate my own the only prob sizes, as I guess its important to have the bar mounted so it doesn't  affect the axel travel,,,, Just wondering if I could make them similar to the front mounts.

  3. Me again.

Whole new problem to sort. A while back I had a replacement chassis fitted, I was told it had come from a 2012. ( not so sure now)  Apart from none of the exhaust mounting points lining up I find that I don't have any mounting points on the chassis to mount an anti roll bar, I have the front ones and all 4 on the axels but nothing on the rear of the chassis so no reference point to weld on new ones, any info on the right position or right method to determine where they should be would be a great help...( the good side of this damn lock down is I got lots for time sort all these problems )  Just as a point of interest it look like its had any bars fitted for a long time.

  4. You wouldn't believe what I can do with the third one lol lol ;) Thanks Simon,, other side would of been better ( the inside)

I got this one from Island 4x4, ive checked all their part numbers and they are the same ??????  the number I have on the bag it came in match.... As things are with everything shut down I cant do a great deal, just keep asking questions and hope some has had the same prob and sorted it..

  5. Hi C/Shifter,

My sketch doesn't really show the third groove, I am calling the filler lace groove, but im glad some one else can see what im getting at. Id cut out the old one to check but with this damn lock down I cant risk not getting a replacement if what I have is wrong.............. lol rock and a hard place. ill try and get a picture or 2 they may help

  6. Its not the method of fitting that's the problem. Ive fitted many screens in the passed.... its the profile of the rubber I have, all the rubbers ive come across have the body slot and the glass slot opposite each other and a filler lace in the middle,,,,, on the rubber I have there are 2 slots , a narrow one for body and a wider one for glass,,, but they go in the same direction,,, plus no one lists a filler lace,,,,,, so why have I got 3 slots ????????

  7. Hello Western,

Well kinda helps but what I need to know is what is the cross section of the rubber like, mine appers to have 2 grooves/slots going in the same direction  am I just not getting the picture, ill try and post a picture or a sketch.

  8. Hello All.

I got a problem with a windscreen rubber.. I ordered a new rubber, part number LR 056278.  It arrived and has been sat around waiting for the weather to improve,,,,,,,, well I got it out today and,,, well I think its the wrong rubber. it has a slot for a filler lace,,, the one fitted to the car hasn't,,,, ive checked the part number incase I ordered the wrong one but there is only one number,,,,,,,, so anyone got a picture or sketch of just how its fitted, its really odd shape.

    Cheers Tom

  9. Ok, something I forgot to mention,   having my wheels on and off more than an old tarts knickers I found a trick that works very well. ( applies to alloy wheels) I used a length ( about 15") of pipe 7/8dia  pushed it through the wheel nut hole then wiggled to pick up the stud, then a lift with the tube allowed me to fit the nuts no probs, the tube gives you a lever to move the wheel a little and theres no weight as such. Being to close for comfort to being 70 any help with the wheels is most welcome,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, now all I need is a 7ft tube to get the bu**er on the back door lol lol.
