I do t have any detailed information on the suspension pick up points, but if you think the front section may be repairable, have you thought about a half chassis?

    Lot less than 2500.

I have done, I have a new back panel, but was going to fabricate the main rails, but the more I looked at the chassis, it would be as easy to just make new chassis rails all the way through - just need the weld-in bushes.

I was thinking of salvaging the originals but they will probably shrink when welding.

  2. Thanks for the reply's so far, The two chassis I have, both have had the dumb irons replaced hence no info transferred, but chassis were a replaceable item?

I did contemplate replacing the rear rails, but the material I would be welding to wasn't great hence the dilemma

Even if anyone has any info regarding bore sizes for the machined components?

  3. Hi All,

I have a series 3 SWB Petrol with a knackered chassis.

I bought another chassis with a view of repairing it but it needs a lot of work. As an ex-sheet metal worker  / plater I am seriously considering fabricating one out of sheet steel.

Does anyone know of any suppliers that manufacture / sell  the weld-in suspension mounts, damper tubes and steering relay tubes?

As I'm skint there is no way I can afford the £2500 for a spanking new galvanised chassis,

Anyone offer any guidance regarding sourcing these items?

    Regards

    \Dave
