When we started our journey we had just over 3/4 of a tank of diesel. I had been driving for about 60 mins at 65 to 70mph, then all of a sudden I lost power and the defender lost speed down to 50mph on the flat, and wouldn’t go above 50mph in either 4th or 5th gear, sixth wasn’t possible. We had just under about a quarter of a tank of diesel.
We pulled into a service station and put more fuel in as we were worried we might not make it home.
When we started the Defender up again it all worked fine and pulled away normally.
The vehicle has just had a large service and has had a replacement Turbo.
Can you tell me why it lost power almost like the turbo had failed then it worked again, is this to do with the DPF filter, does a defender have a safety mode to clear the filter?
