  1. I have a 2010 90 XS as a daily driver and we have been all over France etc in it.

The difference which made it a great car is:

Dynamat sound insulation, quieter than an FL1 at 70 now !

    Koni shocks

replaced HD rear springs with standard road LR spriings

Uprated Kenwood HU, speakers, and Alpine SW.

A few othe 'bits' like the glove box, rear door damper, Momo steering wheel, Mud Rails [long legs] etc.

Oh......personal choice......I converted mine to an Ashcroft Auto box.......massive difference.

I now have a personalised 90 XS that will go anywhere and my wife loves it, prefers to be a passenger but also drives it as well. Best combination ever :i-m_so_happy:

  2. I had a special tool when I changed my springs - it's called a-son !

As said above but I had a-son push down on the hub to make popping the spring out easier, did not need a spring compressor. The longest part was initally working out how to remove the Puma turret cover under the bonnet with breaking it. If I recall start to finish took about an hour for all springs and shocks.

  3. I have a similar TD4 and found the 225/55/17 tyres gave a harsh ride and expensive to replace. I bought off ebay a set of 16" rims, fitted 215/65/16 tyres which has improved the ride a lot and then sold the 17's. The overall cost to me was about 1 wheel and tyre for a better set up.

I am told you can air them down but I don't know how much.

  4. I have tried ordinary diesel with FB and FC 2so and BP Ultimate with both. I have just run the last 5 tanks without any 2so as a test, filled up 2 days ago with 1:200 FC 2so, that's 100 miles worth and it is quieter and smoother.

I use Castrol Aceto 2T. Tried various others, research loads and know of some people who seem very experienced and knowledgeable on another forum who have covered 200k+ miles in a Puma and swear by 2T.

    Each to their own though

  5. hmmm, I would recommend either Pirelli Scorpion STRs or General Grabber ATs.

My family have 2 FLs running the above in summer and winter and both have been fantastic whether in snow, wet or cruising to South France. I have also used the STRs on both 215s on 16" rims and 225's on 17" rims. The 215 ATs are on 16" rims and get the most hard use.

They both wear well and I would buy both again without hesitation

  6. I just prefer auto's especially in regular traffic. Also the labour cost of a clutch change on a FL is very high, I have heard it is around £1200? A member of my family recently had a quote on one and as a result is thinking of changing his 53 plate FL for a later auto version.

    Each to there own though.
