No dowel on mine..... just 6 bolts tgat hold the flex plate adaptor. ... those bolts are spaced such that they only fit one way.... however the four from that spacer to flex plate could be put on wrong.... again. No dowel

If you have the discovery that the running gear is being taken from. Then cut the mounts from that chassis and put them in the same place in relation to the spring mount as on the discovery. Thats what i did and it puts it in the factory v8 position.
Wiring is relatively straight forward. About 5 wires...
My discovery system has a speed transducer in the speedo cable that tells the ecu when the vehicle is moving....... if not fitted it can stall when you stop at junctions etc....
The shifter can be fitted where ever the cable will reach.....

I'm actually amazed to hear that there was a robotic system...... the jigs must be knackered as the tolerances are huge!....
Hopefully they're just sending them straight to galv now.... mine had had some sort of dip process when i bought it direct from LR...... guess what. .. it already had rust inside!
Hopefully it'll work out and you'll get your new chassis!

Depends what chassis you have.... richards don't have holes for clips.
Marsland have holes for the standard new style clips which can be bought....
-
I always put the bolts through from the prop side...... axle end!

What failed?
The discovery most likely. ..?

I'd personally weld a nut on..... then lots of wd in an attempt to save the thread in the head and undo it gently.....

Only thing i would advise is that you use a defender ratio transfer box.... (unless you're on tiny tyres)... otherwise lock up up in top will continually be a struggle. .. and it'll use more fuel and create more heat.... changing from 1.2 to 1.4 ratio was thebest single thing i did ...

What will fit depends on whether you have a truck cab, van back, and if the bulkhead is intact.... I had a problem of smart seats for my truck cab, couldn't fit them as the high back was too tall... same for mx5 seats..... I ended up with standard ones......

When I used a discovery t box on my 90 the drive gear had a different size cable end..... when i swapped the drive gear to correx8the speedo reading i had to have a new cable inner made....
-
I use the dollys you put under wheels.... one for just engine 2 of gearbox attached. ... a ratchet strap around it dies stability. ....
The dollys are always useful.....

When I fit uj'sI pump grease in with it completely in bits to get rid of the really thick factory grease..... blocking each hole as needed..... it seems to help getting grease everywhere once fitted

Nope, not in discussion. Voted on and accepted by the ALRC clubs recently (I was at the meeting at Gaydon). Officially it's not active until January, but some clubs are already allowing Q class vehicles to compete. It will also be in the new 2017 ALRC Green book (a bit like the MSA blue book).
As for 40 inch tyres. I suspect that is a rarity, not the norm. And even beefed up Land Rover axles aren't really going to be turning that size of tyre.
And lets not forget, Forward Controls are currently allowed 37" tyres anyhow. While they might not be the most common trials vehicle. There are a number used actively across the country for such things. So 'big tyres' is not actually anything new. The only difference is allowing them on other vehicles.
But anyone who trials knows, that sometimes a large lifted vehicle is not the way to go anyhow. As you won't get the steering lock.
Thanks for the clarification...... turns out our club committee voted in favour of it.... I'm no longer on the committee and quizzed the chairman at lunchtime..... they haven't yet had confirmation of its acceptance.......
The way I see it it now opens up loads of potential new members.... as tubular bumpers and cranked arms are now 'legal'......
-
I believe the qclass is still in discussion. ...
It'll make running trials verydifficult if we end up getting vehicles on 40inch tyres at the same event as a series on 205s....

Dorset Lrc that I trial with has noticed a definite swing in the last couple of years. .. first up a general drop in numbers.... and this yr specifically a turn towards d1s...... you can be up and running for under a grand if you're clever where as anything 90 will no cost at least four times that.....
We still get Muppets turning up for our p&p days though.... always will i think....

Drive and enjoy

I had southdown snorkel on my 300. .. drivers side for engine and passenger side for heater.... I made a plate for the wing top and put a pipe from that backwards with a piece of flexi from that to the pope up the screen frame.....

So.... crediton wanted 480 quid......
Plus it would have had to be blasted first at the very least...... plus repairs....
So put that against a brand new chassis and it makes having new metal not that expensive! ...
If you want a big standard chassis go to marsland.
If you want cage mounts or hd rear cross member then go to Richards...

Unsure of the correct name but I call those a multi v belt..... have exactly the same front and on mine.....
-
It's worth ringing a few galvanizing places for their views..... Plymouth will probably put you off just due to the price...... mine ended up in Cardiff as they blast and dip on-site.....

Difflock is in or out..... no neutral...
Look at the knob. It's a figure of 8....
Right hand side is lo-nuetral-hi....
Left is the same but with difflock engaged.....
You Don t have to go back to neutral to go from diff in to out .... simply slide sideways

A mate had a trailer come off his 110 and kill someone. ... it was badly loaded .....
He only just escaped prison and looking his house.....
Just a cautionary tale....

Thanks.....
I was having a'discussion' with someone on farsebook..... this confirms what I was trying to tell him.....

Quick one..... are 90 and 110 rear springs the same diameter. .... ie. Would 110 springs fit a 90 spring mount... chassis end ....

You'll probably find it slightly too high geared..... and getting the box to lock up will need about 55 ish mph..... ok for cruising on motorway but not b rds etc....
It'll also use more fuel and heat up the transmission oil as a result..... fitting the 1.4 tbox on my 3..9 made it drive so much nicer....
