  1. Hi, I'm new to the world of Land Rovers and my Dad's Landy has got me a bit puzzled. Its making a ticking noise that sounds like the exhaust manifold is leaking at the back cylinder. However, when I put my hand down the back I can feel quite a lot of air coming out with the ticking and it seem to be coming from further behing the cylinder head than the exhaust manifold. A friend thinks it could be the head gasket but surely if a head gasket was leaking to that extent it would either overheat or run like a bag of nails. Anyone got any ideas? Anything typical to the 300TDi? Your help would be much appreciated Cheers Steve
