Yes it's a feature!
Have a search for Land Rover's official "Defender Water Ingress" manual.

I've only used Mintex once. They squealed so badly that I replaced them after 200 miles with genuine LR pads. Only Ferodo or LR for me since then.

This help? (One of the advantages of having your Land Rover in pieces!)

I'm not familiar with the gearboxes and transfer boxes fitted to the Defenders, so can anyone tell me where the model numbers are stamped please? The vehicle is a '92 Defender 90 with a 200tdi.

Ashcrofts have a useful gearbox identification page on their website

Who are SGS 4x4? Like the sound of the galv hinges, but my Google Fu is letting me down.

My first thought was a valve cap too. You would be able to hear if one was missing though.

I wouldn't have thought that the 300Tdi wiring harness would be that different to a 200Tdi, which iirc Autosparks do. At least it would be a good start.

It's along time since I looked at those circuits, but I'm not sure that the hazards use the flasher relay.

Also as a reminder, never undo a drain plug until you have removed the corresponding filler plug first!
The drain plug can be fun to remove with a socket as access is a bit tight between the gearbox and prop flange.

The relays is always good idea on the Defender.

It's always a nice feeling to have another years ticket in your hand!

The new ones have the other advantage of being able to view the coolant level from the outside, that was the reason for changing mine.

I fitted one of the stays that came out with the Wolf, shown to me by mmgemini.

I used NTC9236 on my conversion, with the original steering damper. Surely you need to use an OME Defender damper as it goes in the current position?

Like it Mike. Nice simple solution.

As luck would have it (except for me of course) I'm currently replacing footwells so have taken a few photos for you. Let me know if there is anything specific you want, though it will probably be tomorrow before I get another chance.

200TDI is 2 1/4" tubing.
Which is 57.15mm

Are you following the correct procedure when refilling the coolant? If not it can cause airlock problems on the 300Tdi.

I'd have thought the cable was more likely to be worn than the motor. I don't know if it's possible, but can the cable connector in the starter motor not be flipped over so it uses the unworn side?

i find red oil drips off my gearbox, and the only place i have red oil is the power steering. i also had antifreeze dripping off my steering dampner which came from p gasket. but since i replaced p gasket, its been dry.
If your gearbox is an R380 then it will probably have red ATF oil in it.

Thanks CwazyWabbit. I'll use that method in future.

Rear chassis cross member replacement - from where?
in Defender Forum (1983 - 2016)

I've also got one of the heavy duty Dixon Fabrication one's waiting to fit. I bought it with the separate chassis extensions, which pivot via a bolt through the back of the cross member to allow correct alignment.
