  1. go for 265/75/r16, my local tyre man does they really cheap, i think they are only £35 - 40 new each, i think they are used alot in the american market so they are mass produced,

What make is this for? All the Grabber's and Mud Terrains i've seen at this size are over £100 each?!

  2. slacken the 'A' bar bolts & see if it will pull forward so the lights bowls will clear or just lightly touch the grille, only other way is to elongate the bolt holes or make a distance plate up so it fits between the lights bolt & A bar mounting tabs, these will move the lights forward as much as you want, just make them to the length to suit.

Drilled some new holes in the light mounting brackets and bob's yer uncle.

Should've gone for a air-con a-bar originally and they would had had loads of room...

  3. So i've got some driving lights but can't get the buggers to fit on the A-bar without fouling the rad grille. I've got a thin steel grill but the back of the lights still pushes it inwards. Anyone solved this other than trying to drill out the mounting brackets further forward (and spending £12 on a one use drill bit)

I also thought of mounting them on the bumper and enlarging the pre-drilled holes but would rather avoid the drilling...

    any ideas?

    Cheers

  4. Dave i think the southdown sliders will be in the way of where the vertical section of the step needs to go - same for tubular sills as well - may be wrong though.

i do have the original side sills if you want them if you end up replacing the southdown sills, wouldnt mind first dibs back on the southdown sills though.

Alternative - weld a step on to the sills just dont make it too strong so that it at least bends if you catch it off roading rather than it becoming an extra anchor point.

All sorted now. They fit on just fine after a bit of manouvering. I think if i ever did any serious offroading i'd just unbolt them, but until then at least the girlfriend can get up into the cab!

  5. They will inevitably fall in, but are quite easy to fish out immediately. It helps if you have washed out the area first washing away the mud with plenty of water, and have a set of fingers available for dropping the long bolt through the hole once you've lined up everything...

    Practice makes perfect...

    Thanks

All sorted now although it helps not to have sausage fingers! It turns out the A-bar i bought has unusual spotlight clamp locations and so i'm having to send my spots back to Simmonites for smaller one's (and i had to butcher the rad grill to get it back on. Grrrrr

    Here's hoping smaller lamps fit!

  6. Sorry to hijack the thread, but i'm trying to get my bumper bolts out to get an A-Bar on. The bolts come out OK but i'm afraid that the small plate they screw into will fall into the chassis and i'll never get it back. How do i keep the plate ready to take the bolts again when there's only the tiny hole in the side of the chassis to get a finger in?
