  1. My 1995 disco 300 tdi has a problem at high revs, when acelerating upto 55-60 there is not problem, but trying to go any faster is an issue.

The car seems to loose power for a moment and the revs will drop off, if you keep your foot down it will pull through but really struggles.

My first through was fuel filter so that was changed but no improvment, could it be the fuel pump on its way out.

Any advixce would be greatful, the car runs fine apart from this little issue and has just flown through its last MOT with no problems.

  2. In iceland they use metal boxes which fastrern in place of a rear tyre, when offorading or going up the glacia's. They don't carry a spare as they are too big to carry.

These seem to handle the cold very well,

Obviously you are keeping the rear spare but could you not hang a metal box from the spare. depending on size what about adding insulation stop the strops freezing.

  3. I would love a swing away wheels carrier aswell. Agree that the weight of the tyres can't be good for the door. I use the spare wheel carrier to mount my bike rack so can't really get rid of it.

Someone must make one, or how hard would it be to make the defender one fit.

  4. That 8x8, was at driffield but its not 8 wheel drive just standard with 2 extra axle at the back.

Said the aim was to make it 8 wheels drive in time for the shows later in the year peterbrough from memory.

  5. Having just bought new suspension for my Disco 1 300tdi. I thought it might be best to ask if anyone had any sugestions as to the best way to fit them or any pitfalls that they have found.

I have the workshop manual and will be working through that.

Just wondered if anyone had any hands on experiance that might make the job a little easier.

    Thanks neil

  6. When this happened to mine I decided that I wan't going to have a go and fixing it. A rung around and found a local landrover garage that came and picked the car up and fitted a new kickdown cable all in a day, might have been pricy at £300 + Vat.

  7. My disco seems to be reliable. Only owned it just over a year and had to fit a new auto box just before snow last year and then in May had to repolace the kickdown cable. Thats it all other isues are caused by me, but we will not go into that.

  8. The water on the bonnet happens with the new freelander 2 aswell. Funny to watch the water movibng up the bonnet as the car moves along the road.

Instead of a spare wheel for the freelander you now get a can of gel and a mini compressor that has the worst instructions ever.

Agree with the discovery 1 rear lights.

Seatbelts getting caught in the door of my D1 when you try to close it.

  9. Had mine about a month now and the only issue I had was with towing the wives horse box. We was well under the weight limit.

The car pulled the trailer along the M18 with no issue the problems only arrived when we got to where we were going. The field was on a bit of a slop and the freelander didn't like reversing the trailer up the hill or pulling it up either. Got lots of nice cluth smoke for my effort. Did look at the hill after and decided that we should have not atempted it and should have left the trailer at the bottom and walked the horse up the hill.

My wife now thinks its rubbish at towing and is convinced thay my disco would have made it no problem :P The issue is that the disco would have but with low range enabeled.

So the freelander 2 is a fine towing vehicle as long as you can give any hill a run up starting of from a stand still will only kill the clutch.
