  1. Before we start the conversion on our Sankey, we found ( a long time ago ) a thread to a self build conversion

Due to a pc crash I lost all the links to it, however I have one picture saved

Does anybody recognise it ? have a link to the thread

I am not even sure which forum I found it on.....

    ( must learn to backup)

  2. No problem, glad it can be of some use.

The sitch eustachions I bought came from Keith Gott in Alton, so I wouldn't mind betting your favorite parts stockist would have them - I've since thrown the bag away so I can't tell you which supplier they came from, but I've also seen them on eBay too in the past.

Cheers Kev, phoned them ..had stock..in post today

Off next week so repairing switches on the list of jobs..

    Many thanks again

  3. We have just purchased a Mk2 lockable "Damage repair" sankey 3/4 trailer

which is in very good condition, however I have a couple of questions for those with far more knowledge than me !

    1. The front support legs? ( which have wheels enclosed in a base pad) although they swing down the are stuck in the tube so we cannot drop them to floor level

any ideas/tricks to free them up

    2. Is there a wiring diagram for me to convert the 24pin military towing plug to a 12n configuration for the time being

    Many thanks

  4. This topic has probably been done before but I cannot find it with the search.....

We have a 1997 300tdi and want to convert the headlights to early TD5 spec

Now I have been told by " a mate" that all I need is the headlights and they are a straight swop !

Is this correct or do I have to do some surgery to the housings

    Thanks in anticipation

  5. Just a "trick" to use when hand painting

Get some " Owatrol Oil" add 10 -15% to the gloss coats , this will retard the paint hardening slightly, then roller the paint on using a "radiator 6" foam roller" horizontally on the panels then draw the paint off downwards or at 90 degs using a good dry brush

This will get a good smooth finish, I have used this method on Trucks, Boats and Vehicles for a number of years and gives a good relatively brush line free finish

  6. I read another thread about this last week (on here, of course), so while I had the lid up (and the cricket on) I tried it - I was skeptikakal to say the least. However, GO DO IT NOW! Can't believe the improvement :)

I must remember to use the search first !
