  1. Hi I had this happen with my discovery and i just gave the gear stick a hefty shove/thump and it came out of gear.

I kept meaning to investigate the cause but never got round to it and 20,000 miles later the Disco was written of but in that time it never happened again. This was a R380 box.

Hope this helps(not much I Know)

  2. Glad you sorted your problem.

A bit off topic, years ago I had a 24v Scorpio that failed to start on a few occasions. After much checking and swearing I bit the bullet and took it to Ford who said the engine ECU was shot. Two days later when they went to fit a new ECU the real problem was found. A small colony of ants had set up home in there and every now and again they would short the ECU and cause the car not to start. A quick bit if hoovering and the problem was gone.

  3. I've got a Yuasa in mine, never had the slightest problem with it and as you say the prices are good for what they are. Disconnect earth last and reconnect it last, saves getting a belt if you inadvertantly short from live to the bodywork or clamp.

Not wishing to upset any one but I would disconnect the earth first.

  4. Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been here for a while, been busy eating Pizzas.

My driver's seat collapsed the other day, the mesh webbing at the very base of the seat that supports your bum split down the middle leaving me sitting on the floor of the car. Rather disconcerting as your driving down the road, for a second there I thought all those curries had finally caught up with me and my bowels were collapsing.

My question is; before I have the local LR centre lie to me (heaven forbid) and tell me I need a whole new seat, has anyone had this problem before and has put in a new webbing or do I have to scrounge around the wreckers and end up buying a whole new seat anyway?

Hi all, don't post often but lurk a lot. My seat broke last week and I've done a temp fix using some 6inch lap fencing and a couple of small rachet straps. I slid the wood under the frame and used the straps to support it. The seat is now very firm and I sit slightly higher than normal but it will do untill I get round to a proper fix*.

    Hope this helps.

*Fixed my passenger window 3 months ago with 2 bits of 4X2, must sort that as well
