  1. I recently bought a dry sump system, fabricated by John Eales, on ebay for a good price and would like to fit it to my engine. I added pictures, which I hope will show, so you guy's can see what I bought. The problem I have is that I have no clue about how and where to add the oil feed. As you can see on the picture is that some of the oil passages (I assume) are blocked off with some kind of wax. The oil pump gears are removed and is blocked off with an aluminum plate. So I'm not able to add the oil feed line from the pump to that area. Where and how should I fit the oil feed line? Excuse me for my ignorance and I hope you guy's can help me further
  2. 250 euro's for the engine. I think I'll still buy it and use it for the clutch, injection, covers and ancillaries and maybe some other spare parts. I had an offer for two heads for 100 euro's that has one broken bolt in one of them. the "new" block is one that came out of a car that only had 500 miles on it so almost new. why do heads actually crack?
  3. cracked head... that's not what I wanted to hear. I only thought about a blow gasket. Heads was the main reason I wanted to buy the engine. yes a V8 engine HSE 4.6ltr
  4. Hey guy's I'm picking up an engine I could buy cheap after this weekend but I wanted to check something first. I bought a shortblock earlier and I need this engine I'm picking up to interchange the parts to the shortengine I already have but... The owner said he's selling this engine because there is water found in the oil. I assume this is because of a blown head gasket but I'm not an expert. Could there be other, more severe, things that could cause this. I just nead the engine for the heads, sump, manifold injection and all other stuff but the bottom end. Thanks ! Danny
  5. I for sure aint going to pay what Nigel Dean did ..ouch 12k...no not really...actually SWMBO would kill me instantly if I did... Looking forward to your mail Fridge. Going to read your link in a few !
  6. Hi new here and I have some questions... After talking Fridgefreezer on the MSEfi forum he advised me to come over here to read up and ask questions so here goes. I'm currently starting a project for a V8 rover 4.6ltr engine for a DAX Rush kitcar I'm going to build. I read the articles from Nigel dean's rover V8 and he inspired me to go on and just do it. I bought a reconditioned 4.6ltr short engine and am now looking at my options to build it further. I'm quite new to rover engines and 4 stroke as a whole so I have some other questions about parts I need or what my options are. I'm looking to build it distributor less and use Megasquirt for the ECU. I know MS can handle all options available but what is my best option here. Use the Ford Edis 8 or build the engine using an injection system that can be found on the P38 / HSE engines? Will going that route be harder for like camshaft choice? Or are there a lot of choices as well. I know people just use the Ford Edis 8 and just remove the distributor but what do you think is the better choice? The big problem is space under the bonnet so I'm looking for options for the induction as well. The plenum and hoses are a bit to high for the bonnet and it needs to be cut out if I use a regular plenum. I already saw some options on the ACT website for carbon plenums which look stunning. Are these chambers hard to design? what kind of throttle bodies are used for this? . please advice Kind regards, Danny Heus
