  1. now THIS you see is what i dont get! everybody has a differant opinion on this topic.. hence why i asked the question.

I used Andy's project as an example we could relate to and his experiances.

    Older ... wiser... etc

  2. Whilst we are all drooling over Moglite could Andy explain the Q plate system and how you go about it for those of us who are Techie iliterate? sure there are many on here that would find it interesting and informative/educational.

For instance is Mog road legal? taxed mot'ed? or does it have to be trailered? what are the legal requirements with such a project?

Prop a topic that has been already covered but many of us need telling again!

    Thanks

    M.

  3. Nice of you to come and say hello Mike and Rebecca! always a pleasure to see you again.

did comment on both your truck and the club stand when i was in the arena ( mentioned it in an earlier post)

    Mandy.

  4. Didn't I see you driving round the site? How long did you actually run the fridge for without starting and running the car? My inverter seems to flatten the battery without even having anything plugged into it if I leave it on by accident.

Mark, If you find yourself going down the invertor route you will find plenty of domestic sized fridges with very low power requirements. :) Tesco had some in at very reasonable prices recently.

    Chris

The only time i started the truck was to go to the arena on Sunday at about 3ish.

no probs with the inverter or truck .

  5. quote from one of the mags re Billing.

" As for getting remembered, on the.......... stand ( they make the .....................)

one member of staff got a head start with his crafted hair style advertising the company.

    That was effective advertising!"

    WHO was that then?

  6. And was that with just the standard 90 battery?

If so that's not too bad at all for my needs, shouldn't need to go more than a day or two without recharging batteries and I will have one (or maybe two) big auxillary batteries on a split charge.

Aye an Engel would be nice, but ££££

Standard battery? hey its me you are talking to the gravel drive offroader! :D of course it was a standard battery.

as for Engel ... one day.... now if only Tonk could make me one? he made my bling boxes.

  7. thought not :)

i brought a Kelly Kettle, been after one for ages, bit like a cauldron :D and you can burn any thing in it!

got some good deals from site 4x4 ( can i say that?) for club members

some water storage tanks for the series ( more mods for overland trips)

some more tenting equipment (you can never have enough)

and boring bits and bobs that we needed to service both trucks.

  8. "clean and shiney?" oh well better than nothing ! :)

wrong side of me? ask around... both sides are wrong!!

was voted the most popular person on the forum ! :D:hysterical:

glad you got home ok, now best go before i go OT any more.

    xxx

    Mand.

  9. Actually they do galvanise things like the body cappings nowadays, they just paint them as well. Galv body cappings were reintroduced in (I think) 2002.... and I've not seen one with corrosion problems on the cappings since then, compare that to the early Td5s which were terrible.

Tell me about it! remember my post on corrosion?

As for electrics... remember my fuel pump/ecu adventure in Italy a couple of years ago?

I was talking to a stealer a few days ago (now dont all go jumping down my throat at this , i am just repeating what i was told from his experiance!)

Most new purchaces ( spelling going haywire here) are by people who will change thier "car" every 3 years or so. SOME ( but not many) will keep it longer but we still get the " do you want to buy this new Range Rover/Freelander" letters through the post.( well i do)

Us ( and i use the word us only because i cant think of another at the mo) "offroaders" tend to buy secondhand, and although they do sell secondhand... MOST of their sales are new.and to the people who couldnt afford the new Disco/Range Rover/Freelander lifestyle look.

Now i am NOT saying that these new Defenders will NOT be offroaded by the likes of " us", what i am saying is that it will be when they are no longer fashionable and have been resold a few times and are therefore cheap enough to buy/modify/pull to bits/GET DIRTY!( and you can find the bits in a scrappy or Old Sod CHEAP)

Like so many here have said LR must make money some where and if the money comes from "the new car" brigade and they want the comfort of a "car" then what are they to do?

having said that i am betting my series will outlive myRaider !!!!

KISS i think is the saying?
