am i correct in thinking the gearbox mount is a bolt on which can be moved easily ?don't know simply because I've never tried to to it, but suspect either engine &/or gearbox mounts will need moving.
-
my main concern is that i chopped the gearbox tunnel to fit a disco 200 and box and im hoping the 300 and r380 combo will be roughly the same length as the 200 lt77 combo as to get the 300 in the right place for cooling, exhaust,e.c.t.but still getting the gearstick sticking through the right hole ????
-
thanks for the reply
-
was hoping western or white90 would be along for a straight answer
-
anybody know ???
-
Will my 300tdi and r380 manual box out of my wrote off disco slip onto the lt77gearbox mounts I moved back to fit a disco 200tdi and box into my def 90 I know the engine mounts need moving but just wondered if it would be a straight swap on the gearbox side as it's already set up to take a disco
Lt77 ???
-
Cheers you just won me a tenner
-
can someone tell me what gearbox is in my 98 s plate manual 5 door disco I think it's an r 380 but my mate insists it's a lt77 who's right ?
-
is it a case of cutting engine mounts off the disco and welding on defender ?? would they sit forward or rear of the mounts we welded on to fit the 200tdi disco engine/box combo also will the gearbox crossmember we moved to fit the disco 200 box be right for the 300tdi box
-
are we talking engine mounts or gearbox aswell
-
well i wrote off my mint low mileage disco 300 last monday bit gutted as me and the missus spent nearly three months looking for a good one and nearly £150 in deisel looking at supposedly immaculate rotboxes then we found a lovely silver 300 tdi for sale low miles 95k completely solid huge alisport intercooler 5 brand new bfg all terrains mint interior basicaly the whole package and cheap as well then as my luck would have it ive smashed it to bits arguing with a 17 ton lorry luckily no frontal damage just down both sides.. anyway getting around to my question i have a 1990 def 90 that i fitted a disco 200tdi and box into which came out of a j reg mk1 the question is will my 300tdi and box slip straight into the mounts which were moved to take the 200 and box in the def... the disco is definately a write off in my eyes so will buy back off insurance seems a shame to let a mint engine and box slip away as the 200 in the defender is getting a bit tired any ideas ????

any ideas why ive only got one headlight working but both work on full beam ?changed the bulb no good checked fuses all good just had multimeter on the bulb plug no power any ideas chaps
-
master cylinders were used on both models & later they were changed to rationalise parts holdings.
that settles that then.. thanks again
-
Sure both listed on this parts book page as item 6, these part numbers match the ones in the links to LRSeries website.
these parts listed for 110 but master cylinder is identical to mine could it be that ive got a 110 m/c on my 90 ??? should i buy it and try it??? thanks for all your help anyway...
-
Yep, I do.
could you release these numbers to me i'll get you a pint at billing if you go ???
-
A type 80 is 276mm, maybe it's been changed before by a previous owner.
IIRC the bolt configuration on both servo's for the master cylinder is different. so check that too, before buying a new MC.
just measured my servo which is a type 50 @ 227mm diameter, my 110 is a Oct '89 reg too.
yep just remesured vac aperture top left definately type 80 ive just emailed lrseries for prt nums for master cylinder to match (hopefully) would you have access to part nums i need ??cheers chris
-
glad you found the link, LR use a lot of LucasGirling brake parts, also APLockheed which is now Delphi IIRC, all are good quaility.
just had a measure of the servo which is 276mm which you said is the type 80 servo but this doesnt match the vin number which begins fa40 first reg of 90 was 6/10/89 im a bit puzzled ... should i take this as being the type 80 servo??? my innitial problem being needing to pump the brake pedal twice for a good firm pedal but then it creeps away to halfway possition hence me asking for master cylinder seal kit checked wheel bearing play adjusted rear drums e.c.t all good plenty of suck on vac pump. so im thinking it must be master cylinder seals shot ive had the whole system pressure bled and theres no leaks anywhere so i was gonna get my bruv to re seal the master cylinder am i headin in the right direction???????
-
thanks western just one more question would that be a girling lucas or gen landrover number ?
doh !!!!!! just figured to click on the link thanks again western
-
Nope, the top kit 18G8951L measure the servo diameter to be sure.
thanks western just one more question would that be a girling lucas or gen landrover number ?
-
Depends on the Servo that's fitted & chassis number.
Type 50 servo is 227mm in diameter used upto chassis HA701009 use master cylinder repair kit 18G8951L
this servo is fairly thick when looked at side on
Type 80 servo is 276mm in diameter used from chassis HA701009 use ---------------------------- AEU2741
this servo is a bigger diameter & thinner when looked at side on.
my chassis num begins with f a does this mean i need type 80 kit ??
-
im not sure which seal kit i need for my 89 g plate 90 brake master cylinder i think paddocks got about 4 types for a 90 and as normal i ordered the wrong one help!!!!

We went to Crufts a few years back and of all the dogs on show the English Bull Terrier was the one that I was most drawn to. If I recall correctly the missus rather fancied the Lhaso Apso.....needles to say we didn't agree on each others choice and are still without a dog

Ha ha. In the past I have not had a problem confronting scoundrels. However now I've grown up a bit I have to realize that there are a certain cut of folk that to be honest I don't want hassle from. Having 3 young children the last thing I want to get into is a vendetta on home soil Secure it, insure it and fingers crossed I guess.
Maybe we'll be getting a 'family' dog sooner than I had hoped Ah well I guess now we have the Landy we have room to put it in the back!
yeah just a gag. travellers this way (east anglia) generally not a bad bunch but you allways get a few bad apples my english bull terrier is allways loose in the garden nobody ever offers to tarmac my drive i dont know why ??
-
I've done as much as possible to secure it which is way ott, but given I am doing the cam belt and general servicing isn't a big deal. Once it's back on the deck and fully road worthy I'll be a little more concerned. Sadly just a sign of the times.
get a sticker made up to go in the window tony martin security services .lol
Will it happen???
